Hey guys, it's Maggie. I am here to introduce Section 2 of Unit 4 for you guys. You have
gotten so far, yeah! So in this section you get to hear more from Sun Mama and Sun Baba,
and they talk about Marco's cellphone usage. So cellphones are actually pretty interesting
in China. There are only two or three cellphone carriers and what you do with a lot of things
in China is you sign a contract and when you sign you pay a lump sum up front. They don't
do a month-to-month plan really. You sign a contract for 6 months to a year, and then
just pay it all. And another interesting thing is that in the large cities they have charge
cards, so you can add a certain amount of money to your plan when you start to run low.
And Chinese cellphone plans don't have overage fees or anything like that, your phone just
stops working. So, pretty straightforward. And then you just have to buy a phone card
and type it into your phone, and then you can use it again. So it makes it pretty easy.
Anyways, on the language side of things, this section you will be learning the past tense
particle. And this is awesome, especially because it's not like Spanish, where you have
to worry about conjugating verbs or anything like that, you just add this particle, and
it's le, and you add it to the end of the verb or the end of the whole sentence, and
it makes it past tense. So it's awesome. And you guys will also be learning some time words,
like evening or afternoon, so you guys will be better able to express yourself in the
time of day! So, let's get started!
