TRYING TO TURN YOU ON TO 100% ELECTRIC DRIVING
WITH THE NISSAN LEAF
It's on.
Are you coming along?
Hi, I'm Tim Coronel, professional race car driver and Dakar driver.
I'm active in the area of social media such as Twitter and Facebook,
as there are many people who like to keep up with interesting things.
It started for me because of Dakar.
At the Dakar Rally I drive an electric buggy.
I haven't managed it yet,
but I want to be the first in the world to do it.
FACT: THE NISSAN LEAF HAS AMAZING DRIVING QUALITIES
CHALLENGE: TEST THE NISSAN LEAF ON THE RACING TRACK
I expect the Nissan Leaf to have lots of power
and to be innovative.
Today we'll do a close inspection of the Nissan Leaf,
as we're on the racing track.
180 DEGREES
I'll just reverse, turn left a little,
then make a big loop to the right and drive forwards again.
I managed the 180 degrees with the car.
Now we'll test the brakes.
We'll drive straight ahead. Hands on the steering wheel.
You can always check if the car has balance.
If you take your hands off the wheel and the car still drives straight ahead,
then it's working well.
The brake test was passed successfully too.
DRIVING DOUGHNUTS
Look at this.
SPEED
Incredible, you only hear the wind
and the squeaking of the tyres a little.
120 and... brake!
Nice, right?
That's the advantage with batteries of course.
Everything lies very low and under the car.
You have a very even balance.
How fast are we going now?
140.
145.
150.
155.
And... 160!
Now we'll brake.
Nicely around the inside of the bend,
along the inside,
back to the outside and let it coast.
You could say
that driving electric cars has now become
a lot more fun.
Electric driving is not just for bourgeois squares,
but can also be sexy and sporty.
I'll do another round.
