Alright folks, in this clip we're going to learn how to draw a cartoon dragonfly. And
we're going to do it right here in the middle of the page. So, what I'm going to do is I'm
actually going to start with his head. And since it is a dragonfly, I've decided I'm
going to kind of give him some physical characteristics of his little mythical brother. And why? Just
because it's funner that way, you know. It's fun to, you know, give some familiarity to
your characters. And the way I could do that in this case is to give him sort of like a
dragon like nose. Maybe come in here and draw some little teeth on the front of him. Nothing
too, you know, intense. You don't want to make him look too much like a dragon. But,
you know, it's kind of fun to give your characters some personality. Of course we got to give
him the insect antennas, so everyone knows that he is in fact an insect. Then we might
come in and draw sort of the dragonfly body on him. Now dragonfly is a very skinny body.
So I'm sort of drawing like a scaly back to him. Or draw sort of a ribbed underbelly.
And what I might do actually is draw sort of like a, in keeping with my little dragon
thing, some sort of little talons coming down. Just kind of like this. See? And just to kind
of complete my little dragon look. So there would be the body of the dragonfly. And then
obviously to make him a dragonfly, he's going to be needing a couple sets of wings. Four
wings total coming out of his back just like that. And what we'll do to really show that
there's some motion there, is we're going to create little movement lines right beside
them. Some lines up the middle. Just to show that he is in fact kind of flying there. And
he's got the wings. So, there you go. A cartoon dragonfly.
