A very successful winter season
The 2011/2012 winter season in the Rhone-Alps
has seen many people come to visit.
The generous amount of snow at the beginning of the year
meant that more locals came,
this is one of this year's trends.
The international clientel has remained stable.
Tourism in Rhone-Alps, an on-going activity
Rhone-Alps is a diverse region, with permanent tourism,
as soon as winter has ended, we make way for
the short spring breaks, then summer
with the Alps, but also the Drome and Ardeche.
All of this makes up the richness of the region -
the number two tourist region in France,
with 150 million overnight stays every year.
Summer in the Rhone-Alps, nature and culture
If you were to go to the Alps this summer, you would find
a very natural kind of tourism, but also in the towns of the region
a cultural kind, a travelling kind,
which has become very popular these last few years.
Let us not forget the gateway to Provence,
the Drome Provencal and the Ardche
with new possibilities for eco-tourism,
adventure, nature and the outdoors,
stays that visitors of today are looking for.
Make yourself at home, locals as ambassadors
Our region has 6.5 million inhabitants,
those from the Rhone-Alps make up 25% of regional tourism.
Each inhabitant of the region has obviously many things to share;
this is the idea behind what was put into place last September: "Make yourself at home - Ambassadors of Rh™ne-Alps"
We want to turn locals into ambassadors of their own region.
It's a tool for Rh™ne-Alps inhabitants to share videos of the region
and it's a huge success on social networking sites.
