EndNote Web Searching PubMed on an iPad
Because the iPad does not yet have an application to record video from its screen,
I will have to work with static screenshots through most of this tutorial,
but I will show you show you how to search PubMed on your iPad using EndNote's EndNote Web features,
then how to transfer those references to EndNote on the desktop.
These instructions will also work for other online databases.
In Safari on your iPad, go to www.myendnoteweb.com and log on to your EndNote Web account.
Select the Online Search option on the Collect tab.
If you have not already done so, to narrow the list of databases to just those you use frequently, select Customize this list.
Select the databases you frequently work with and copy them to your favorites list.
Select the PubMed database from the drop-down list.
Select the Connect button.
Enter your search criteria.
Select the option to retrieve all records found or to select a range of records.
Select the Search button.
If you select a range of records you will be notified of how many records were found before they are retrieved.
You can choose to retrieve all the references or just a range of them.
In the Online Search Results window, mark the records you want to copy to your library,
then select the group you want them placed in from the drop-down list of groups, or create a new group.
The references you have copied now show a checkmark under the Copied column.
Select the group you copied the references to at the left of the window to see the copied references.
These references are now in your EndNote Web library and can be transferred to EndNote for the desktop when convenient.
In EndNote, select Transfer in the EndNote Web group set.
Select the option to Transfer References from Web to Desktop and select the group from the drop-down list.
Select the Transfer button.
The entire group is transferred to EndNote and appears under the EndNote Web group set.
