In this video we will look at how to merge, or transition, two templates when designing a road.
There are times when you want to alter the road template and add it into the road model with a transition.
I want to transition Marin Street from 6m width to 4m. The two templates we will merge are the 6m road and 4m road templates as shown in this list.
So lets open the design data form for Marin Street and have a look at how we will achieve this transition.
You can see that the 6m road template has been used for the entire length of the road.
Lets change the end value to 130 and see what happens in the model
Now lets add in a merged or transitioned section.
We add a new template and set the chainages over which the transition will occur.
The template you want to use is the same as the template you want to apply for the successive section.
And make sure you set the merge option to YES. When we apply this you will see a transition section in the plan from 6m to 4m.
Now we can add in our final template section, setting the chainages and template. This time the merge can be set to NO.
Once we apply this you can see the road narrowing over a 20m section and then carrying on at the 4m width.
