Hey I would like some information on joining the Marine Corps please.
Sure, here are some brochures and reading material. Do you have any questions young
man?
What kind of jobs are there in the Marines?
All types. Anything from administrative jobs, combat roles, mechanics, communications, drivers...
there are a lot of different roles to be filled to ensure the Marine Corps functions properly.
So are they all dangerous jobs.
Most have a dangerous aspect to them, yes... Especially being in the conflicts in theatres
around the world, you can guarantee you will see the middle east at some point in your
career.
Will I die if I join the Marines?
Not necessarily. In Afghanistan alone, the US armed forces have had just over 2,00 casualties
since 2001. Not that many in over ten years. That is some of the appeal though right?
What?
Most young men join the Marines because it is dangerous... you might want to walk on
down to the Air Force office there, if you're worried about danger...
Now, hold on a second...
I am just giving you a hard time. If running around with a rifle does not sound like your
thing, we definitely have other jobs... but you need to understand, every Marine is a
rifleman first and foremost.
Which means?
Which means, all Marines are trained to be a rifleman at some capacity. You will learn
all the basic infantry stuff before you go to your specialty school, regardless of your
chosen occupation. That is why we have the reputation we do.
Okay...
The Marines might be a good fit for you, you seem very shy for a kid your age. It could
definitely help you perhaps.
Yeah, I guess so.
Here is my card, give me a call if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them
for you-- okay?
Okay, thank you sir.
