Hi, I'm Rafael Nunjar, I would like to share with you a life experience I had with the Pututo. And that has accompanied me on several steps I have taken in my way.
The Pututo is a wind instrument it is made from a shell.
Like this, this is a Galatian strombus coming from the north coast of Peru. It is in Ecuador, Venzuela, Mexico.
Wears the apex, the spiral that originates all this and left a hole through which the performer blows.
And blow emits vibratory sounds very intense.
When you put more shells, more pututeros to blow, the intensity increases and finally multiply this vibration that heals us. It has different effects on us manera.Have a very powerful energy.
The Pututo sounds like this.
Each shell does not sound the same way, so are of the same variety.
The first time I got a pututo
had a friend
that somehow got the shell and told me about the pututo, try to touch it for a couple of weeks, another friend I got a shell like this
The fishermen say ball
And this I try to play it several times until I finally get the sound, the first time I felt dizzy but I loved it. Another day walking down the street I found another shell that it is of here
They call girl's lip.
I decided to make this my first pututo spiral and gradually work it was perfected, the nozzle was small but it was getting sounds.
Then I found several shells.
I met more people who were more pututos.
Little by little I was enjoying this world, to touch the snail made me think that could really play other instruments. Thanks to connect more with Pututo percussion until today.
Two years ago, we met a group of like-minded people to make an artistic performance.
We were in a basement in the house of a friend, this place was abandoned for many years there was no electric light.
It had two rooms, the first room was very spacious with a very strong echo.
To the side there was another smaller room and it was something special had an incredible sound.
All the sounds of flutes, flutes, drums and amplified much pututo remembered that I had a backpack and told me I will blow with great force. Enter the room when they were all playing music and I felt a powerful energy.
Like a whirlpool of sounds, touches the very intensity pututo
And felt like the vibration of the snail was amplified around me that came from feet to head.
The next thing I remember I was watching a starry sky at night was beautiful and the breathtaking.
And all the stars moved and formed geometric figures and moved me deeply.
My first reaction was to lower my sight.
Below ground there was, there was no floor and I had no body, try to look at my hands and there was nothing, I thought I was dead.
Try to remember how this had happened and came to my mind the last thing you did and had been the pututo, and from there I felt that I have returned and I woke up everything was spinning and I passed out and no one had noticed.
At the root of this made me much more connected with its energy, with the shell to play it more.
This year complete a degree in complementary therapies, and had the opportunity to receive guidance and told me that happened to me is like an email, but you have not read the entire message.
As I started not know how to decipher researchers, anthropologists, musicians, mystics and Andean shamans.
I have received plenty of information, data, experience so far nobody has been an event like mine.
In 2001, Chavin found a pavilion with many pututos.
this room had been sealed, they found twenty Strombus snails like this, were cut and used for ceremonies.
They have been hidden for more than three thousand years.
Chavin is a place where sound knowledge and a protagonist.
I will return there in a couple of weeks to talk with a group of people from one project.
Stanford University, I have been in contact with them.
It is a center where they found many pututos together in a ceremonial context.
The shell is a spiral, a number auric within them.
The spiral is here in, is a constant that is in the universe.
The spiral is the first symbol is the door that traverses both at birth and at death.
The vibration of the snail is closely related to our health.
and there are many studies that lead to healing through sound.
The Didjeridu has many similarities with the pututo because of its sound and vibration.
The shell has the same frequency of balancing.
My work focuses on that, I've been working with two snails and a person.
The first reaction of the body, expansion of the aura.
Because it reacts faster to our aura sounds, colors, sensations and aromas.
The one I tested using the pendulum.
The snails on the coast of Peru are used in another context.
In ceremonies, the snails are used to transfer the disease from one person.
to the shell, the same as this up side as here and throughout the ceremony.
The shaman guides the channeling of dense or negative energies that may have people.
Then over the ceremony, what it does is go around the shell.
and then tells the shell to deposit all these evils to the sea to transmute.
This is part of our ancestral culture, its use is as a healer bowl.
The idea of using shells, desgastarles the apex and also make them sound has been done elsewhere.
Not only in South America, also, in Mexico and New Zealand
In Cuba also do it and call it bututo.
In Hawaii they do and also called Pu.
In Tibet, the monks use large conch shell trumpets to call the faithful.
The nozzles of their shells are made of metal and much more great, I have not heard but I love to play.
Its use comes from time immemorial.
In India also there is this tradition, among their deities can also be seen carrying shells.
It is the sound created the universe.
There are several Indian stories tell where the fighting of the deities.
And the way to deal is sounding a conch and beat anyone who has touched him stronger.
It is an ancestral memory that is shared in many towns and places globally.
This is something that affects us as human beings rather than as Peruvians.
One of my best experiences with the pututo is to teach others to play.
Because the first thing people say they thought they could do.
And then when you come back to realize how l oud it goes.
And really able to feel something, that's wonderful that people are identified.
As I was hard to touch, that made me teach them and that they made easy.
My experience in the basement was a synchronization of the hemispheres, because many times we use one more than the other.
We prefer the logical, the rational rather than the other that is the intuitive, emotional and creative.
This kind of sounds it does is activate the hemisphere that use less.
and it is equal to the other.
What we call consciousness soars to another level.
Not as we know.
There are various institutions and universities in the United States who study these effects.
Using specialized recordings.
Many people have astral travel, can communicate with people from other dimensions.
Other times, other civilizations.
I believe that our ancestors not only had this information but they knew how to use it.
At Chavin is the idea.
it is a place where ceremonies were held where amplified consciousness.
If they made Huachuma ceremonies where consciousness can be amplified.
If the sound can do the same, so it was done there.
Before my trip I want to get involved with more people who can share more experiences.
Some people have asked me to prepare snails, and I have discussed this.
The important thing is to bring benefits to all.
Working with them on one side vibrational level.
and incorporated in complementary therapies that I, the stem too.
try to capture something, an intention because it is important that you take the time to do them.
The first thing I did was to spiral a cosmic origin.
With a creation, spiral implied.
It has a more earthly character.
This is an image of a snake that has to do with life and transformation.
This drawing is a concept that allows me to communicate with myself when you touch it.
which is that most people would wish that they resonate.
The elaborated for ceremonies, therapies, musicians.
The important thing is connected with the instrument and the importance of sound.
And I inspired with snails Chavin.
And it was very shocking to me and I want to make a perfect replica of each of them.
Also try to get different copies, varieties.
Each has its particularity, for example this.
Those of the ball here.
Also found in Tumbes and have a very deep sound.
According to its size can be very serious.
or very sharp.
t's not like girl's lip.
it has a sound a little more sharp.
In fact this was what made me fly.
This one the fishermen here say pineapple.
This one here I've never seen
being used as pututo but when I saw advantage
and play and tell pyramid.
This small ball is a snail here
It is part of a series of seven that was developed.
to reach the seven musical notes.
and intent of this is to work on the chakras.
because each resonates with a particular note.
And then there's the strombus
which is the more exotic variety that has been found here.
and is the sound that has the most serious.
Formerly Toro told it, because his sound to remind you this animal.
This one here is a spiral strawberry.
This gave me a friend to work.
and is the first I have of this variety.
If at any time.
feel they want to know more of this can be communicated.
with me. (In the image data out)
Minu is a project to develop utility-level art.
and any artistic expression that you want to share with people.
This was created long before the pututo appeared in my life.
In fact it has built very well and has found.
a good space to be released.
From here on I expect further development, experiencing.
know more people and share things.
Within weeks I go to Chavin where I'll have more data.
Return to Lima and I go back to Cuzco.
These instruments began using the Mochica culture.
in ceramic possibly by lack of copies.
we do know that many snails produced this material.
The sound is not the same even if the intensity of vibration.
the clay is very different from calcium carbonate.
One of the things that motivates me to go to Cuzco, is looking for a master replicator.
for this technique to develop them and also I experience.
The spiral makes this living thing is constant wind.
Is the same as found in plant cells in our body.
The spiral also speaks of cycles, recurring situations but are not equal.
All is in constant change, constant motion.
A constant in this universe, we are all here to continue growing.
In the end that is the message of the snails have to evolve, we must advance.
Recognize each cycle of our life and expand
and always give our best.
For me, in my universe was that the snail, pututo is the best thing I could find.
