this is the first episode of thirsty thursday where we bring the waters life to you. grab
your cup and your pen so you can take some notes
today we're going to be talking about 3 qualities of successful people: drive, ambition and
expectancy
BUMPER
successful people are: driven, ambitious, have a high expentancy
simon sinek: discusses what he calls "the golden circle"
during this talk with ted he says, "There's a pattern. As it turns out, all the great
and inspiring leaders and organizations in the world -- whether it's Apple, Martin Luther
King, or the Wright Brothers -- all THINK, ACT, and COMMUNICATE in the exact same way.
And, it's the complete opposite to everyone else."
he recently wrote a book entitled start with why
this is important because most people and companies follow a what-how-why strategy
leaders begin with their why, follow with how, then comes the what
that makes sense to me my recent studies have shown me that successful
people, in all walks of life, possess the following three qualities amongst several
others they are driven
they are ambitious they have a high expectancy
1. successful people are more driven - willing to do what others won't do:
like get up earlier and stay up later do one that one extra rep in their exercises
read a good book listen to good audio and teach EVERY DAY
they do things because they have a strong enough reason to get them out of bed and work
at it all day they know what their WHY is
some say What's Hurting You I say What's Happiness to You
you need both, in my opinion, you need to know what you're moving away from, your pain
and you need to know what's on the other side, your pleasure
2. successful people are more ambitious - willing to not only see an opportunity for themselves
but go after it: the opportunity to build a better airline
was there before Herb Kelleher wrote it down on a napkin at a business meeting but he went
after it the opportunity to build a better automobile
was there before Henry Ford demanded his team to create a 6cylinder engine that would change
the industry but he was not to be denied the opportunity to build a better cell phone
was there before the second coming of the late Steve Jobs but he wouldn't settle for
second best
3. successful people have a high expectancy - willing to set the bar higher than they
can see... right now if you don't become better than the next person
will I don't say that to say that you're in competition
with everyone else because no one kind do things quite like you can do them
your personal experience makes your talents uniquely favored but until you realize that
you have something to offer then you will not spend the time master it
by it I mean mastering yourself that's what it means to have a high expectancy
it means that you are constantly evolving into the person you know in your heart that
you can become no one else can do that but you
Jim Rohn was once asked "when is enough, enough?" His response was that "enough is when you
have given your all" I'm up studying until I can't keep my eyes
open sometimes, family... because I'm hungry I'm raising the expectancy that I have for
myself I do that because I want to be successful
and successful people have a high expectancy simon sinek says, and my research verifies
it, that leaders lead from the inside out they define for themselves why they're going
to do it figure out how to do it along the way
show, through their activity, what they can do
and, a few of the reasons for their success are because
1. they're driven
2. they're ambitious
3. they have a high expectancy
