Bonnie: Hi, I'm Bonnie with TLC Inspirations, and I'd like to help you get
over your fear of sewing and we're gonna start by getting familiar with sew machine
and don't be intimidated;
it's actually pretty simple, so we'll start there and then we'll get you into
sewing, so I hope you enjoy.
Let's begin by grabbing our spool of thread and placing it on the spool pin.
You want the thread to come up from behind and underneath and we're gonna
place our sew cue cap on there and we're gonna thread into the first thread guide
and the second thread guide.
Then we're gonna come around the tension disk so that we can load our bobbin.
We're gonna grab our bobbin and we're gonna place the thread from the inside to
the outside through the tiny holes in your bobbin.
We're gonna give it three or four clockwise winds before we put it on the
bobbin seat and mark it in place.
And we're gonna snap it over.
And we're gonna use our foot pedal and go ahead and wind the bobbin.
You'll stop when you either have it filled or enough thread for your project.
Now, we're gonna remove it from the bobbin seat, and we're gonna cut our
thread, and place our bobbin aside for a few minutes while we thread the upper
portion of the machine.
We're gonna want to remove the thread from the tension disk and leave it in the first
two thread guides and then we're gonna bring it through the feed for the upper
thread uptake lever.
So, we draw the thread down through this feed, wrap it around.
We'll bring it up into this larger slot and there's a little lever in there that
we need to just kinda hook the thread on and then bring it back down and we're
gonna go through the last thread guide. It's usually at the top of your needle.
And that threads that part of the machine.
Now, I'm gonna use an auto thread guide, so I'm gonna place my thread in the auto
threader, little guide slot there.
And then I'm gonna reach on the left side of my machine and there's a lever for my
auto threader.
There, you can see it come down.
And it should grab a hole to that thread and pull it right through my needle.
It is easy for someone like me who can't see very well to thread it manually so.
Not all machines have that capability but if you do, it's a nice one to have.
And we're gonna go to the bobbin and we're gonna place our bobbin so that the thread
is coming off in a counterclockwise position.
But then you're gonna reverse it back into the bobbin tension to the left
and just loosely pull it out to the left. Then you're gonna grab your needle thread.
You got two threads.
And the next thing we're gonna do is we're gonna grab our hand wheel and place
our needle down into the needle plate so that it will grab the bobbin thread and it
should pull up a little loop there on the needle plate, close your bobbin thread up
through the needle plate, and then you've got both of your threads and you're ready
to be in sewing.
