Hello, I'm Kazia. I'm a Student Ambassador and I will tell you about your accommodation
options at Kingston. So you can rent the room privately or get a room in halls. I can tell
you the pros and cons of both of these options. So renting a room privately gives you more
variety, so you can find something cheaper, something more expensive, and something in
Central London or in Kingston area. But this is way more hassle as it is very difficult
to find something before you arrive in London as you will want to meet people you share
the house with, you will want to actually see the room and you have to sign a contract.
It is way more difficult as it is the first place you will stay and then you need time
to find something that you will like. With halls you can sort everything before you arrive,
so you get to Kingston and you already have a place to stay. Living in private accommodation
gives you more freedom, as life in halls is subject to many small regulations, like for
example, you can't have candles, you have to pay, the toilet is not cleaned very well,
and things like that. The people you share the house with is a bit of luck really, your
future housemates can become your best friends or your enemies, it really depends on many
things. You should discuss all the rules right at the beginning, and I would advise you to
do the same in halls and in private accommodation. So I hope it helps you a little bit, think
about what is most important to you and make a wise and very well thought decision. Thank
you.
