Welcome to this week's Spread the Love.
We are in Anaheim, California and it is
the Educational Theatre Association Annual Conference.
We have our lovely table set up and this week
we are talking about our brand newest, newest of the new,
just out of the package play in our catalogue.
This is Smarty Pants by Bradley Hayward
Bradley has two other plays with us,
he has Apostrophe's and The Waking Moment.
Smarty Pants is a play that takes place in a classroom,
an advanced placement classroom and the newest member in this class
– Dallas – is a bonafide Smarty Pants.
He thinks he's going to learn a whole new level in this class
but what he learns will shock and surprise him.
What I like about this play and what I love about Bradley
is he knows how to write for the school genre,
for student performers, for the classroom.
Everything is gender neutral so you can
put in the students that you need for this production.
It takes place on one set, easy to put together,
and wonderful characterizations.
We could not ask for anything more out of a Theatrefolk play.
Craig, what do you love about Smarty Pants?
What I love about Smarty Pants is its core message.
And the core message of Smarty Pants is that
no matter how old you get, no matter how smart you are,
no matter how advanced you get in life,
you'll always be a stronger, better rounded person
if you never forget the lessons you learned
when you were in kindergarten.
That's it's for Spread the Love. Bye-bye!
