"Honourable" colleagues, What has been happening in the last few days
is not just the umpteenth slap in the face for constitutional order, it's not just been
the desperate subversive manoeuvres by the leader of a political party at risk of going
under. Here we have a whole country that is going under. It's not about the eligibility
of a single individual to be a politician: here, what's at stake is the survival of the
whole nation. It would almost be taken for granted to run
through the "dazzling" political career of Senator Berlusconi: member n° 1816 in the
P2, the well known illegal and subversive Masonic Lodge, a few dozen "ad personam" and
"ad aziendam" laws {specific to particular individuals or companies} passed in the last
twenty years to avoid criminal convictions at the last minute, and now a conviction for
tax fraud and a sentence of 4 years in prison, and as luck has it, thanks to a law that his
own party voted for. But, with respect, Senator Berlusconi is the past. Have a good gallop
home Cavaliere. You would like to continue standing trial as a senator or, as has happened
once upon a time, as the Premier. This time, there are no more "Lodo Alfano" laws, no more
"legitimate impediment", perhaps the PD will even make us the gift, just for once, of not
supporting you as happened in the past, by presenting, who knows, something like a "Lodo
Letta" ... it's just a matter of applying the law, in the Cabinet and in the Houses
of Parliament, and we would like that to go ahead without secret voting. Let's participate
personally in the idea when we say that IN ITALY,THE LAW IS EQUAL FOR EVERYONE.
We won't be able to say that we'll miss you, simply because, given your 99% absence rate,
it's already quite something to see you. So much for responsibility to the country. Yes,
because you were the government of the "responsible people". You responsibly didn't give a toss
about increasing the sales tax to 22%, you knowingly forgot about the much heralded abolition
of the IMU property tax on the first home, that we had proposed in certain amendments:
PDL, PD and Civic Choice voted NO. Perhaps you didn't like the fact that the money to
pay for that, we had planned to get by increasing taxation on financial speculation and on the
earnings of the concessionary companies running gambling activities. Would you risk penalising
friends of friends managing slot machines? May that never happen! It's more convenient
to find the 1.9 billion that you are overlooking by rooting through the pockets of common mortals.
Yes, when we proposed eliminating this disgrace, you voted AGAINST the idea.
PD and PDL have often shown themselves to be complementary. Never before this moment
has it been so difficult to distinguish between them: Premier Letta IS LYING about the electoral
law, in the very same ignoble way that "Cavalier" Berlusconi IS LYING about the sales tax. The
same methods, the same motives: to start off the election campaign by taking us citizens
for a ride. The true, deep crisis is being experienced by the Italian people who can't
even understand what is really happening. A President of the Council is not any old
politician. A President of the Council is an institutional figure, in one of the highest
positions in the State. From him, one expects behaviour that is impeccable and of the utmost
integrity, to an even greater extent than from a normal politician. He must be the symbol
of transparency and trustworthiness. A President of the Council CANNOT LIE, President Letta.
In any other modern democracy, a premier discovered to have told lies to the voters would resign
even before being booted out. Do that Mr Letta, even before this Parliament asks you to go,
because the 5 Star MoVement will not allow you to gloss over it even for a moment, to
pretend that nothing has happened, about the need
to ask for a confidence vote responsibly, to ask for that confidence vote that the Movement
cannot provide and will not provide to anyone that deceives the people. The 5 Star MoVement
does not make alliances and it's no one's spare wheel, and certainly not for those who
have been the main ally of the convicted criminal Berlusconi. Here, either there's a government or everyone goes home.
They are no alternatives. Only with a 5 Star government will it be possible to start restoring
the country to health. There's no middle way. YOU ARE NOTHING AT ALL!"
