The battery has a convenient feature - you can change the voltage.
Try some alternatives. The circuit provided is only a guide, you can add and remove devices and connections to explore possibilities.
Here’s a demonstration of a short circuit. When a zero resistance option is available, the current will flow through that instead of the device. The device stops working.
