uh... i'm ........ But you can call me Joel and i'm studying masters of
Engineering in Systems Engineering.
I came from the Philippines. It's like
the Australian dream.
uh... in my last semester my parents were caught in a fire
and uh... they were in critical condition for
five weeks. Really,
you're alone and don't have somebody to talk that close that you could
confided with.
So it was really hard time for me.
It was the first time in my life that a painful and eh... depressing time for me
and
I find myself
lying in bed
tossing and turning and then
then I suddenly cry something like that because I cannot talk to them.
I cannot do my thesis during that time
fortunately at RMIT I applied for special consideration to
extended the timetable for finishing my
thesis and they were really
compassionate and very understanding about my case. But
during those time was praying really
but uh...
My mother died.
At that time
I don't really care about the thesis but when I talked with Mr Adrian DeBoar my
councillor. The first time during my crises that I really felt
that's like somebody's here to help me.
Without this help
I think I wouldn't survive or just given up making my thesis and go back home
Adrian's help, It's like,
"Oh, I can do this." Then he told me and he helped me how to extend my
visa. He really helped me through it
when I'm in his room or consultation place
it's like, "Oh,
there's still a lot of hope," and I can solve my problems.
He really doesn't know it because I'm the one feeling it how thankful I am
For all the things he has done.
So
thank you Adrain thank you Andrea and RMIT
student services group
and all
special considerations committee
and
I'm really sorry but now probably I know
that I belong
here at RMIT. So,
I think that's about it. Something
like that.
