My name is Keichi Tsuchiya and I am a racing driver from Japan.
I get paid to hoon around in cars, which is pretty great because I believe that that's
what we are going to be doing today.
Enthusiasts love rear-wheel drive because it allows you to get a bit lairy, to go a
bit sideways in it.
Nice to meet you.
Today I have a challenge. My challenge is a barrel drift.
He's using the clutch a bit, isn't he?
See, he's keeping it quite close to the barrel.
That's good. That's good. We like that.
You're up next then mate.
Thanks
Was that good?
The GT86 is a good car. It has taken all the unneccesary bits out of driving experience,
if you like. And it just comes down to being a nice simple front-engined, rear-wheel drive
coupe that does a very nice job.
In a rear-wheel drive car, the front wheels are just left to do the steering and the rear
wheels can do the driving.
It's been a really good fun day. Not something you would want to do on a public road but
when you come to a test track like this and you've got a drifting legend to hand then
it's just a lot of fun.
It really is a fantastic car. It's a proper enthusiasts' car for not very much money.
It has got a close ratio gearbox, the driving position is laid back, very sporty feeling,
you get the tail out.
It's just a proper car for people that really love to go out and have a laugh.
So I reckon that was a top day out, don't you? I mean fantastic car for doing this sort
of thing. You couldn't get much better I think.
ROund the barrels and everything was really sort of tight and you could drive it really
well.
And it's fantastic to have this man here. Ijust want to personally say thank you very
much. Top day out. Very jealous of what you do every day.
You have good balance.
Not as good as him though. He was the quickest.
He is a professor!
He even looks like a professor!
Thank you very much
