Welcome to Spread the Love.
This week we are talking about The Fried Kobassa
by J. Robert Wilkins
who also penned The Haunting of Chip Lake Lodge.
When sausage goes missing from the kitchen
of the Walker's Arts and Athletic camp,
the inspector in charge will leave no stone unturned
to discover the culprit.
Well, he'll probably leave a lot of stones unturned
because he is the worst detective on the planet.
But of course that's when the fun begins.
Craig what do you love about The Fried Kobassa?
Sometimes you're just looking for a fun,
silly play to do, and this really fits the bill.
I love the dogged determination of the Inspector
as he interrogates the campers
as to the location of the missing sausage.
I also love that anybody
takes this ridiculous guy so seriously.
He really reminds me of the library cop on Seinfeld,
but, yes, even sillier that that.
Lindsay what do you love about The Fried Kobassa?
I think that this is a well written comedy,
perfect for student performers and I too
I love the silliness of the play.
I especially love that the silliness goes to the extreme
and it never degrades the characters
or the audience.
That's a pretty good comic trick.
Pick up The Fried Kobassa,
give it a read,
put it on in an evening with Robert's other work
The Haunting of Chip Lake Lodge
and you'll have a totally fun evening of theatre
that'll leave your audience rolling in the aisles.
That's it for Spread the Love.
