Hello. I'm Barbara of Barbara Glaeser Photography.
Welcome back to my theories on how to dress for a Photographic portrait.
So now you know how to dress for a portrait
based on where you want to display your personal photographic art, how the background affects the
overall harmony of the photograph and how to dress for a black and white photographic portrait.
Those segments were all based on not knowing what to wear.
But what if you know the exact outfit that you want to wear for your portrait
and need background and other choices for your portrait? Let's try and make those elements come
together.
Here are a few examples of the client knowing
exactly what they wanted to wear. My job was to make sure that the background
blended harmoniously with the clothing
and that the portrait complements the room where it was going.
Here, Dana
wanted her child to be dressed in very formal outfit
with a blue background with a theme of Venice on it.
It's very formal and the blue color played up his eyes.
It was an easy choice.
Linda Kate had great memories of Paris
and the special dress that she bought there. We made the whole portrait
background and props go with that outfit.
And the bonus is it made her really happy. Mary brought me a jacket and a pretty
teal top. She also like this background with a
sprinkling of bright color. With these two parameters in mind
she went able to easily recommend colors for the rest of the family. I
think she did a great job of pulling everything together.
This couple came to me with their traditional wedding
outfit. They wanted the background to blend and be warm
but not be too noticeable. I think we did a good job on this one too.
to this young man's dressed in a suit and tie
his formal living room portrait. Ricky wanted two different looks for her son
so she's had him change into more casual clothing to play with the dog.
You can see these are two distinct looks but still show the personality of this
young man
these decisions
are a lot of fun for me because it allows me to be creative
and help the client wit all the possibilities
for creating lasting memory. Thanks so much and we'll see you next time.
