Hello and welcome to LA Life with me, Rob Riches, here on Prozis TV, the show that takes you one step closer
to film, food, fitness, and fashion and everything else in between. On today's show I'm here in downtown
Los Angeles to show you around some of the most memorable film locations and the greatest
sporting teams the world has to offer. Let's go.
Commercial, television, and film directors love filming here in downtown Los Angeles. After all, it’s one of the
most popular film locations in the world. Due to the fact that downtown Los Angeles looks like any other
North American city in the world. For fans around the world, it’s both instantly recognizable
and sometimes generic, which is why moviemakers love filming here, because they can make downtown LA
look just like just about any other city in the world. In fact, bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger
filmed the blockbuster hit True Lies right there in that building behind me. Even though the film was
officially set in Washington DC. British-born Hollywood actor Jason Statham played many of the scenes
from the high-octane, fast paced movie Crank here at the standard in downtown Los Angeles.
the hot spot for many A-list celebrities and sporting icons that can often be seen eating
and hanging out here, who play in many of the sporting clubs right here, in downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles River, dlso known as the LA River, starts its journey back in the San Fernando Valley
traveling almost 43 miles to the LA county and finally ending it’s journey in the city of Long Reach.
Various TV shows and movies have been shot along various sides of the LA river bed,
often involving within sinister plots. Take, for example, Escape from LA, Gone in 60 Seconds, Transformers,
Terminator 2 Judgment Day, Grease, you name it, the list goes on. Same goes for music videos,
with the likes of Rihanna, TI, Chris Brown, Beyonce, all of them have shot music videos here, at the LA river bed.
It goes without saying, if you’re a big name and you’re here in LA chances are you’d have been down here,
on the LA Riverbed. Now that we’ve checked out just a few of the many popular film locations here
in Los Angeles, let’s keep things moving, and go take a closer look at some of the great sporting facilities
that downtown Los Angeles has to offer. And that keeps fans coming from all over the world to see
some of the greatest sports and teams play in the heart of downtown.
Wow well here we are, ending the day and the show at LA Live, an entertainment complex here
in downtown Los Angeles, covering over 5 and a half million square feet of apartments, bar rooms,
restaurants, movie theaters, and costing over 2 and a half billion dollars back in 2005, when initial
construction began. Let’s go check out a few of the hot spots around here.
Now, don't be fooled into thinking that downtown Los Angeles is only good for filmgoers and sporting fans.
No, when it comes to food LA is quite literally cooking with flavor and that’s from foods and cuisines
from all over the world, especially here at LA Live. Catering from mid to high scale dining
with the likes of Fleming Steakhouse, Rock n Fish, and Katsuya. With so many great teams
and sporting events already here in downtown Los Angeles, the future’s starting to look even brighter
with plans to build a new stadium to bring back the NFL ready for the 2016 NFL season.
And on that note, it’s time to say goodbye. I’m Rob Riches, you’ve been watching LA Life and stay tuned
for more great shows here o Prozis TV. See you then.
