I'm a project manager, ...
... during the day. And I run and manage projects, making sure things happen.
And during the night, I try to be professional in having good fun.
I was doing my master's degree in computer science,
in Leeds, UK, when I met this nice girl.
Well, that's another long story.
But we ended up being a couple,
and we were also dancing and teaching together.
And she is Portuguese, so when we moved to Portugal we said, OK...
... we can take a break. But very quickly we were snatched by different schools to give workshops.
One thing led to the other, and before we knew it,
we suddenly had created the Latin Quarter branch of Portugal.
We hear all the lines, I mean everything :
Oh, I have two left feet, I have no rythm...
I can't dance, I can't move my legs, can't move my body...
And, basically, we tell them : You think you have no rythm ...
... come and take your hand, place it over your heart.
There's one thing about Salsa, ...
... it looks a lot more complicated than what it is.
Every time there's a new class starting,
they're all very much amazed by the things that they've seen around.
So we start with a basic step, and a couple more steps, ...
... In two or three weeks,
their friends see them dancing and they think : Wow, this is so complicated!
They don't believe it themselves that they're actually hearing this.
We believe that this is Salsa being a social dance.
So now internet is way beyond, I mean, with all these social sites,
the whole game has changed.
www.latinquarter.eu
In Portuguese, .eu is spelled e-u ...
... and it means "i".
I heard of this .eu domain, and I thought : It's a great idea.
Because it is really representative of people like us :
We who come from one country, lived in another,
and currently live in a third one. We travel a lot around Europe all the time.
I'm Greek, of origin,
I lived in the UK, in Greece and in Portugal,
currently living in Portugal,
but I mean...
I would say as a citizen of the world,
I think the most accurate term for me would be : I'm a European.
In every way.
