Hi. I'm Kahle McCann, of the Weekly News Quarterly.
And I'm Dan Prevette, of Applebee's.
And this is I Hate It! The show where we hate movies, so you don't have to.
That's right, Kahle. I haven't enjoyed a movie since 1992's masterwork: Stop: Or My Mom Will Shoot.
And I haven't enjoyed a movie.
I did, however, enjoy the novelization of the movie, All Dogs Go to Heaven 2. By Ron Fontes and Justine Korman.
Today we'll be talking about Pacific Rim, the new film by Spanish director, Geelermo Deltura.
Pacific Rim is the epic re-imagining of Disney's The Fox and the Hound.
Wherein the fox is portrayed by a giant robot,
and the hound is one of the whale monsters from the Avengers.
Will they stay the best of friends? We'll find out.
So, how much did you hate the film, Kahle?
Well Dan, according to our traditional system of one to five hate thumbs down,
I'd have to say I pretty much hated it. Three hate thumbs down.
Wow. Somebody's in a good mood.
I'll say I mostly hated it. Four hate thumbs down. 17 00:01:889 --> 00:01:14,229 Joining us today is star of the film, Doug Jones.
Oh... hey guys, pleasure to be here. But I was not...
So Doug. You do all of the creature work in Mr. Del Taco's films.
In Pacific Rim, did you portray all of the whales or all the Transformers?
Actually, I am not in Pacific Rim.
Oh, you're not? I was under the impression you did all of the creature work in Guillermo's films.
You were one of the monsters in Mimic, Pan in Pan's Labyrinth, and
Ron Perlman in Hellboy.
Uh no. I mean, yes, those first two I did do, but
Ron Perlman is a real person. He's actually a friend of mine.
Yes, I can see how playing a character for a long time makes him seem like a real person.
I too am an actor.
No not, not like that. I-
So, you were the whales then?
No. Again, I was not in the film.
So... you are not in all of Guillermo's films.
Well, yeah, I mean, I'm in a lot of them, yes, but
um, just not this one.
So Geejermo offered you the rim-
Please, don't call it a rim job.
It wasn't really funny the first thousand times I've heard it, so...
Oh, uh, I was gonna say opportunity. What's a rim job?
I believe it's an automotive term. Like a lube job.
Oh, because robots need oil.
Yeah, you're right. That's, that's not very funny.
Anyway, I wasn't offered a role in Pacific Rim.
Oh. Burn.
That must have hurt. So after the falling out, you swore you'd never be in another one of his films?
No, no, gosh no, it wasn't like that.
There's no, there was no falling out.
Uh, just not every actor is right for every movie, and
Guillermo and I are still great friends and I'm sure we'll work together again soon.
So just to sum up: you are not in the Avengers?
No, why would I-
Or Pacific Rim?
No.
Well, that's all the time we have for today. Join us next week when
we hate RIPD.
Thanks again for watching- OH!
Why would anybody joke about that?
