I just wanted to come back and do another lip swatch video because I got a bunch of
requests for another one and people really liked the MAC lipsticks collection video I
did a while back. So I just wanted to do a video on bright pink lipstick because I know
that's another thing that I struggled with when I first got into makeup. I really wanted
to rock a bright pink lip like I saw all the celebs doing but I couldn't really find the
right colors, and if I found colors that I liked then I had trouble making them work
on my skin tone especially without a liner. I feel like a lot of the time that is what
the big issue is--a lot of times I could make it work with a liner, but then it would just
change the color. So that is why I am doing this video, to show you guys how to do a bright
pink lip and make it work for you and your skin tone without having to apply a lip liner
and sacrifice the color of the lippy!
I am wearing Candy Yum Yum on my lip right now with no liner at all, so it is possible.
I am gonna walk you guys through the lip swatches, show you what I do, tell you how to do it,
and sort of show you different options that you may have. So if you guys wanna see me
go through my bright pink lipstick favorites showing you how to work it with no liner then
definitely please keep watching.
The first color I am going to show you is this REVLON Super Lustrous lip gloss in the
color "Coral Reef," and it is this bright pink color with an orange undertone. It is
almost neon even though it's not showing up that way on camera. This has come to be one
of my favorite lip glosses, especially in the summer because it is just this gorgeous
coral flush of color.
Now I am just going to show you another REVLON Super Lustrous lip gloss in the color "Pink
Pop," it is a bright bubble gum color. It is not showing up as bright on film as it
is in real life, but you can sort of get the idea. It is a nice pink with a blue undertone,
so it will make your teeth look really nice and bright.
The next color I am going to show you is the Lancome L'ABSOLU ROUGE lipstick in the color
"Champagne." This is a very pretty pink frost color. The great thing about frost lipsticks
for bright colors is that it really helps to turn down the brightness and make the shade
a lot more wearable. So that's another nice tip for you if you are looking to experiment
with pink lipstick.
Now I am using Plum rose by Milani. This is sort of a deeper pink, almost on the fuschia
side. It is a satin finish and it applies really nicely, the color payoff is really
great, and what I am doing is applying this like a normal lipstick. I feel like most skin
tones can get away with sort of using this color on it's own.
And I LOVEE the smell of these lipsticks by Milani, they smell absolutely amazing--like
watermelon candy. Next I am showing a REVLON Lip Butter in the color Lollipop! So you can
build this color up as much as you want, I am going to build it up so you can see the
color in its intensity. It is a really pretty hot pink with blue pearl, and so the blue
undertone will really help to play up the whites in your teeth and make them look nice
and bright.
Next I am using Pinkerbell, a Wet'n'Wild Megalast lipstick. Those of you who have seen this
in store know just how bright it is. Whenever I am using a color that is a shockingly bright
pink for my skintone, I focus the color on the center of my lips because that is where
you want the highlight anyway to give you a very bold, full lip. Then you feather the
color out towards the edges of your lips as you go. This actually gives the illusion of
wearing a lip liner, helps blend everything together and makes it look a lot less drastic.
Then use your finger to just blend it all in as you see fit, and that is how it looks!
It is totally wearable, not nearly as bright as if you were to just swatch it directly
on your lips like you would a standard lipstick.
And now, this one is called "Mauve Outta Here" by Wet'n'Wild, and it is a gorgeous pink with
a sort of purple undertone. This works well in the fall especially, but also works for
summer at nighttime if you are looking for a pink playful look.
Again, we are going to do a similar thing as we did with Pinkerbell but we are being
a little more adventurous because this is a much darker, and more subtle shade of pink.
Pop it on, swatching it on gradually, and then sort of blend as you go.
There is what that looks like, as you can see it is just a very wearable pink.
Next I am showing you my LA Lip Paint in the color Bombshell, this is a magenta pink and
these lip paints are great because you can build them up as much as you want but you
can also sort of use them as a subtle flush of color. I am going to build this color up
so that you get the full intensity of the color, and as you can see it has a very high
gloss finish. The trick with these lip paints is to again, gradually build it up with a
brush. That is how you get it to be a nice pigmented color without it being too sticky
or runny.
Then we are taking the same LA Girl lip paint, this time in the color Babydoll, and as the
name suggests it is a babydoll pink. Very pastel, and it is absolutely beautiful. This
is one of the colors I would have shied away from earlier on. We are gonna do the same
exact thing that we did with Pinkerbell--applying it in the center of our lips first, avoiding
the natural lip line, and sort of feathering it out.
As you can see, my natural lip line is exposed, that is where you see the sort of darkness
around the perimeter of my lips, and that just acts as though I applied a lip liner
but does not interrupt the lip color because we didn't apply the liner.
This is actually a color that I have come to very much enjoy, it is very pretty, it
is a nice babydoll pink for a wide range of skin tones. Again, it all depends on how you
apply it.
This is actually the very first pink lip product I bought, and this is by Jane Iredale in the
color "Sugar Plum." This is a bright hot pink with gold shimmer. This is a thicker gloss,
but as you can see it gives the lip a very nice pink color with a gorgeous shine due
to the gold shimmer. I just love how it looks, it is one of my favorite glosses to this day.
It just gives a really unique, juicy look to the lips.
Now for a color that you all have probably heard of, this is "Flat Out Fabulous" by MAC,
it is a "Retro Matte" finish and this is one that I apply more similar to how you would
apply a standard lipstick because it is one of the darker shades of pink.
This shade is just so pretty and works on such a wide range of skin tones. I imagine
it being like Heroine and Candy Yum Yum sort of combined.
And now for the one you've all been waiting for, Candy Yum Yum by MAC. It is this gorgeous
neon pink, it is like the brightest color. Again, we are doing the same thing we did
with Pinkerbell and all the other really bright lippies. What you are going to do, is avoid
your natural lip line to give that nice, blended look so that you give the illusion of wearing
a lip liner without actually interrupting the color that you are using.
That will just make everything look more seamless and it won't look as bright or as harsh as
if you were to cover your natural lip line with the lipstick. If you notice, in many
of these swatches I actually have powder foundation or setting powder on my lips--this does actually
help to blend everything together and help the color stay very true to shade but not
look drastic.
If you feel like you want a little bit more brightness, then really build that color up
in the center of your lower lip. It will help to add some intensity without being overbearing
or harsh.
Ok guys, so that is all! I hope you guys enjoyed that video, I had so much fun doing it. I
think it will be really helpful for you guys because it is an area of makeup that I really
struggled with. I had a hard time finding pinks that worked for me and figuring out
how to make the pink lippies I liked work on my skin tone so I hope this helps all of
you guys. I plan to do more videos like this, so just comment down below if there is a certain
color family you would like to see.
I am going to do purples and nudes next because I feel like that's the next groups of very
popular lippies that people like to wear but may have trouble with finding out how to make
them work for themselves. So, don't forget to follow me on all my social media I will
have it all linked down below. Instagram and Twitter are the ones that I am on most frequently,
so if you wanna hit me up, interact or make a request, anything like that--ask me anything!
That is the best way to do it.
And be sure to check out my blog for more photos as well as where you can find all of
these lippies.
Please be sure to like and SUBSCRIBE if you enjoyed this video, and if you wanna see more
videos like this. I will see you in my next video. Love you guys so much! Bye
