ABC's upcoming season has Dramas, Comedies, and Fairytales. I'm Yael with the inside scoop
from the ABC Network press tour in this special TCA edition of ReelTV News.
Coming to ABC on September 22nd is the remake of the Aaron Spelling classic, Charlie's Angels.
Our TCA Correspondent Tim called the drama a "better-than-expected reboot" and says its
"a bit rougher and tougher… but it's still sexy, good fun."
Premiering September 25th is PAN AM a high-flying drama, taking place in the early 60s, revolving
around a group of pilots and flight attendants (in a time when they were still called stewardesses)
who work for the legendary airline. The cast includes Indie-Film queen Christina Ricci,
and "works hard to evoke a MAD MEN feel, with its soap-like drama, espionage and, of course,
romance."
The ABC show I'm most looking forward to REVENGE - which premieres September 21st and stars
Emily VanCamp. REVENGE is about a young woman who exacts revenge on the people who destroyed
her family. Our TCA Correspondent Tim says "the pilot is packed with mystery, romance
and ***" and "if you're looking for a nighttime soap with a deadly twist, REVENGE is an updated
female version of The Count of Monte Cristo,"
Fairytales are all the rage this season. ONCE UPON A TIME stars Jennifer Morrison, from
House but most recently seen on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, as a woman who is lured to the
mysterious town of Storybrooke where everyone is a fairytale character- Alternating between
the present & a fairytale universe - only they are not aware of it.
LAST MAN STANDING is Tim Allen's new comedy about a man living in a household populated
with women - his wife & 3 daughters. This traditional and already-been-done sitcom hits
ABC October 11th.
Not to be confused with LAST MAN STANDING there's MAN UP- premiering October 18th - according
to our TCA Correspondent Tim: "the comedy is forced, the laughs are few, and a good
cast is wasted." Ouch! Tell us which shows you're looking forward to in the Comments
& we'll see you next time on SideReel.
