“I’m Alex Bird from the Adamstown Rosebuds. We were lucky enough to make the local grand
final last year.” “Ahhh we batted first, and um, we hit a
bit of a troubled spot in the field, ah you know, we didn’t have many wickets, they
had plenty of runs on the board, so we needed a game changing moment.”
“So young Ricky Milne got thrown the ball, came in and just tore up. Took seven wickets,
including a hat trick, so we just came off the field at the end of the day with our heads
held high. It’s just one of those moments that will go down as a definite game changer
in the history of our club.” “And just under a year on we’re out here
at the SCG taking on the Blues.” “It just means so much to personally play
on the SCG itself, and you know taking on the Blues as well, a team like that, it’s
a dream come true for a lot of the lads. Still pinching ourselves, we’re just all on a
high really.” “Bit nervy to start with, going out there
just soaking up all the atmosphere and that I guess. But I took the first catch which
was pretty unreal. Rick took a screamer out in the field, a one handed catch just stuck
the mitt out. And then Paddy the captain took another flying one.”
“I think it’s really important to have a Plan B, whether it be on the field or off
the field. On the field you always need an ace up your sleeve, you know, those game changing
moments. As well after a big game most of us like to have a bit of a drink to celebrate
and what not. So it’s always important to have something in mind as to how you’re
going to get home safely and securely.” “It’s been an awesome day, unreal, completely
unforgettable for all the boys. I’d just really like to thank Transport for NSW and
the Blues for putting it on and hosting us today and giving us the opportunity to come
here and have this amazing experience.” “What’s your Plan B.”
