I'm going to talk you through how to use the plant floor application for vantage to collect data about activity on the manufacturing floor
first of all login to vantage as soon as possible after you clock in, this will help
management to reconcile any discrepancy in the data
Why we are asking you to do this is that management needs accurate data in order to manage the company
this will help them to identify process improvements as well as help determine when additional employees or machines are needed it
acccounting with reconciling invoices and job costs, as well
so once you're in the plant floor application and will do a demonstration that in just a moment but I just want to walk through the steps first
so you have an employee ID and on the employee id card you have a bar code you can scan that barcode your employee ID right in this
and then touch or click on the login logout button
the first time that you login for the day you're going to get a verification of your shift
if that doesn't match up contact your supervisor to get that corrected
just click OK
So once your logged in you're going to see a screen
like this one
so the first thing
that you'll do his start an activity
then you'll touch or click on the start activity button
when you're going to start a job
and you have two types of activities to select
setup and production
the indirect we're going to talk about later we don't want you to login
any indirect time when your login under your employee ID we're going to use that to track time that
the machines are idle and we'll talk about that and just a minute
so you'll notice that there are bar code on the job travelers now and the move tickets
So this will make is easier for you to enter the information
into the plan floor application so the thing you can do is scan the job number
into the job number field
the assembly
and the operation sequence you are going to work on
the next you need to select the machine
and you have a laminated sheet that has the machine ID's by a line
there is also a label on each machine
looking something like this on the right hand side. so scan in the machine id that your going to be working on
careful about which machine ID if you're using those laminated sheets we wanna make sure you're selecting the
machine id that matches to the machine that you are working on
then click OK to start you'll see this information populates just verify it is correct
once you have hit OK
You're going to see this activity show up on your production tab
so you can verify that it was applied at any point you can verify just by looking at this screen when your login
what activities are active
let's say we're done with this activity what we would do is we would
click on the activity that we want to end
and touch are click on the end activity button
then we're going to be asked to
enter the current quanitity
this is the good quantity the amount of good parts that were made in during this period of
activity
we need an accurate number here so please don't guess at the number enter it as accurately as possible
the scrap quantity is limited to setup only
we're going to ask that for production activity that you enter any bad parts into non conform quantity
and then you can click OK
at the end of your shift
you have to have all activities ended. check that the panel down here in the production should be empty
before you clock out on the time clock we're going to ask
that you clock out here you do that simply by once your logged in
just hit the clock out button
again all activities must be ended in order to clock out
we ask that you do this tis as close to the time that are clocking out at the time as possible
again so that those discrepancies can be more easily resolved
now we're going to talk about accounting for machine idle time it's important for management to understand when machines are running
and when they are not running
why they're not running this will help to better
manage the company so we've identified
the following reasons for machine idle time
waiting for operator Waiting for material
waiting for CC approval waiting for job
adjust to conform machine repair
schedule maintenance and tooling maintenance and machine startup
waiting for operator
we want you to use this when you're clocking out of your shift and there are jobs still to be run on this machine
this may be that the next shift is going to run this job or possibly not but we want to be able to track
when
you're logging out and there is still a job that would be running on that machine if operator was available
the other time that you would use waiting for operator is when the machine was waiting for material
and the material is now delivered the material handler will end the waiting forr material activity and start the waiting for operator activity
use waiting for material when you
are ready to start a setup and you have already made the requests for material you put the machine in
to waiting for material
or when an active job is incomplete
and runs out of material you've already made the requests for material so please
remember to let the material handler know that you need the material
next is waiting for QC approval
this should be used when you've completed your setup and you've already submitted a product
to QC for the first article inspection and you're waiting for their approval to start production
waiting for job would be usee when you completed a job and you did not have another job scheduled for that machine
so that or to differentiate waiting for operator vs. waiting for job
waiting for operator me. The job
that you're done with your shift in the next operator would need to come in and then start it
waiting for job means you're done with this job and don't yet have another job put on that machine
Adjust to conform is used when you found or been notified by the QC inspector that the product is out of specification or near out of spec and the
needs to be stopped in order to make adjustments
use this regardless of whether you're capable of doing the adjustments are not
so we can track of the machine needs to wait for someone who is that's important for the a for management to see to be able to
improve effiicencies
machine repair use when the machine cannot run
due to needed repairs again please do this only when you already notified maintenance or plant management of the needed repair
scheduled maintenance this is a little different when the machine is unavailable due to a scheduled preventitive maintenance
use of this code should be rare for anyone other than the maintenance department
tooling maintenance would be used when the machine is unavailable due to tooling being out for maintenance
machine start up would be used in a situation where the machines were off and significant startup time is expected
so that if it takes awhile for all machines to get up and running
put them into machine startup and then of winger winner up and ready to go
ready to log your first activity you will take them out of machine start up
so that we're tracking these
machine idle times we want to do this as indirect activity
but we need to do this as the machine
the machine IDs have been made
also as employee IDs this way you can login as if the machine were an employee
and you can track this indirect time
the steps to login are the same you have employee ID but scan machine code so
this can be done by the label that are on the physical machines
or from the
laminated cards that are with the carts
that have the bar codes for the machines by line
once you login to the machine
you would login as the machine in two situations one when the machine is idle need to log
on indirect activity
to stand for the reason that the machine of idle
or when the machine will be run and running unattended with no site operator
how we record the machine idle time is very similar to production but this time scan in the machine ID
you'll
touch the start activity button in this case should use the indirect for the activity type
again login only as the machine ID when you log indirect activity
and here's where we need you to scan or type in the indirect of the other laminated sheets of our bar codes for each of the reasons
and then you'll scan the machine ID of this will tell us which which workcenterr the attribute the top of all time to
and again the machine id can be used by the label on the machine or
or the laminated cards
some important things to remember log into vantage with your employee ID bar
code as soon as possible after clocking in at the time clock
you'll be logging job activity under your ID and logging
indirect or idle time under the machine ID
log out vs. clock out you can log in or out anytime as many times as needed to enter activity and counts
but at the end of your shift it's important that you end all of your activities
and use clock out
we're just going to walkthrough quick demonstration of what we just talked about so on your desktop you'll have a plant floor
icon if the applications not already launched this is where you can launch it
just touch on that for the touchscreen or click on it with your mouse
you'll need to enter the password to login the password is shop the same as the
username you can either type that in or you'll find on the top of
the touchscreen computers there's a little bar code for the password you could just scan
the password to login
ok so the first thing we're gonna do is login so we've clocked in on the time clock and coming out to the plant floor
we're going to find one of these stations and scan our employee ID in. if you don't see the blinking cursor in the employee ID Field
just click or touch in there and now you can scan your employee ID
if you don't have that know your employee ID number you can
type that in
the first time you login you also need to verify your shift the shift promp is going to come up
I am going to acknowledge that is correct
i am now successfully logged in
and I can start my activities you can see in the production I don't have any activity started just yet
so I am going to choose start activity
production activity
and here's where I could scan my job number
again where the cursor is blinking
scan the barcode
for job number
and then the assembly sequence
and the operation sequence and again that still just scan it with your your bar code scanner
and they'll have a machine ID
that comes up by default when a you'll want two
scan the machine id that you will use we need to know exactly
which machine is that you're using and again you can use this bar code from the label on the
physical machine or from the laminated sheets that have the machine ID's by line
that operation completed just because the job that i selected is already complete
this is only to show how this is done we're not actually doing an operation here
so once i've logged in, I can start more activities
now we'll end this activity
and here for current I'm going to enter in the number of good quanitiy
the good quanitiy goes here
we don't want to do use any scrap for production that is for set up only and then I need
you to enter any non conform quantity if you had any bad parts
you will enter that quantity here
and now you see that activity is
out of my production window
at the end of your shift you want to end each activity you want this production window
to be cleared out
then hit clock out
and I can go to that time clock punch out
so i'm going to login as the machine you would scan the bar code
to login as the machine
i'm going to start activity
in most cases i am going to be choosing indirect to log the reason
the machine is not going to be running
you would scan than the indirect code from the laminated card with the reasons
we'll say we're waiting for operator
let's say
were getting ready to leave and there's still a job to be run
so
i'm going to enter that code and then scan machine ID again and hit Enter
and then if I need to do that for another machine
I can log out and
login with the next machine ID
and do the same thing for many machines is I need to put into an indirect activity indicating the
reason why the machine will be running if you have any questions
about what you should be doing please ask your supervisor it is important that we all get the data collection and accurate as
possible so that management will thant the information be able to make the improvements
that everyone would like to see
