Welcome to Bendul, Bali
Just a few sequences...
... that may appear in my film.
Here the villagers come back in procession from the cemetary
on their way to their great temple.
It's the day of Melasti, an important ceremony.
Another day, women make offerings ...
... for a three months ceremony of a baby ...
... which will take place the next day.
That'll be two days they won't earn any money .
And there's a lot of ceremonies in Bali ...
One day without any ceremony
They earn about 50.000 Rupiahs a day,
that's about 5 Swiss Francs or 4,20 Euros.
"Rob! Wanna drink a coffee?"
"We go and have a drink over there!"
A well deserved break. Coffee and Balinese cakes.
In front of the neighbours', late afternoon
Cockfight training.
Return from work
Mbah Okta has cut vegetables on the way home
Nonik buys 'bakso', dumplings with noodles & broth
Mbah Santi goes to the temple with her offerings
Angga & Elsa are playing 'Joged Bumbung'
Later on you will see adults dance the real Joged Bumbung
A day of great ceremony, in the 'small' temple ....
... 'Topeng' dance, with masks
The evening after a baby's three months' ceremony ....
...they had invited the Gamelan orchestra of Sigaran ...
... a village 3 kilometres away ...
... and 'Joged Bumbung' dancing girls.
The first one dances with the baby, carried by his aunt
After that, the big boys 'dance' with her.
It's is supposed to be a flirtation dance, but sometimes ...
... it gets downright ***. To see later on in the film
I hope to be able to show you the whole film soon .
