A common misconception that I hear is how post-traumatic
stress disorder means somebody's a crazy person and
they're going to be violent and
they're going to go postal.
Well, I don't want to hire veterans into my workplace
because they might have
post-traumatic stress disorder.
And they're going to get violent and go crazy.
Or I don't want veterans on my campus because I'm afraid that
they're going to shoot up the campus.
It's just not what we do.
Americans need to understand that like any other community
there are some bad apples.
And the media does a great job of telling those stories, and
maybe a lesser job of telling the more common success
stories that are, yeah, I had post-traumatic stress, but I
didn't get violent.
I just got a little depressed, and I got some help.
And now I'm better.
And I hope that Americans can better understand that just
because we served, it does not mean we're crazy and going to
be violent people.
