In this video, we're going to be going into a little bit more depth about the specific
parts of the turntable. So with anything that you buy, electronic or otherwise, we should
just start with the on/off switch. So the twelve hundred model turntable has this cylindrical
on/off switch that you turn to go on. And what happens next, is you want to start the
turntable spinning. So right next to the on/off switch is a start/stop button. Press the start/stop
button, and magically, the turntable starts spinning. Cool thing to note is that if you
press the start/stop button again, the turntable stops very, very quickly for moves that we
will be talking about in the future. But, if you have the turntable going and you turn
the on/off switch off, there's a very gradual decrease in how the turntable slows down.
Moving on, we have a tone arm. And the tone arm is used to connect the cartridge to the
record. The reason the tone arm is curved, is so when the needle hits the record, there'll
be less pressure on the needle against the record and it'll wear the record out slower.
One more thing to note is the quartz pitch adjust that's on every turntable you'll buy.
And what the pitch adjust does is it changes the speed of the record a certain amount.
And on this turntable, the standard twelve hundred, it has a plus or minus eight percent
pitch adjust. So it'll change the speed of the record eight percent higher or lower.
