Ok, so in this lesson. We're going to talk a bit about how to ask questions in English.
So, here's an example, is there a big blue bird on the screen? Hmm. Is there? Well, I
can see one. Uhhm. It's like a nice little big blue bird, looks very cute and he's asking
a question. So let's ask some questions ourselves and find out how to do them.
So, in English there are quite a few different types of questions but in today's lesson,
we're just gonna focus on the to be questions. Using the verb to be. Alright, so let's look
at how we form these questions. Here we have an affirmative statement that says, you are
in the park. So how do you think we would make this into a question? Let's take a look.
Well, we have the question now. Are you in the park? So let's take a look at, what do
you think we've change? So what have we changed in this particular situation? Well, it's really,
really simple. All we do is we change the position of the, the, the, pronoun at the
start, and the to be verb. So for example, we just move the are to where the you is,
and the you to where the are is. Very simple. That's all we do with the to be verb. We just
switch them around and it becomes a question.
Uhm, I know some people from some countries, uhm, they ask the question uh with, they say
the affirmative statement but they kind of raise the pitch a little bit, so they say
you're in the park? They might say something like. I mean, you can, I under, people understand
it, but this is generally the proper way of forming questions in English, with the to
be verbs anyways.
So let's take a look then at some other examples. So here we have a cute boy, that is really
really silly, he's got some uhm sticks up his nose. Let's see, how do you think we make
this one into a question. So its you are a silly boy. Well, let's look. All we do again,
same thing, we change the are and the you, we switch them around and then we get are
you a silly boy? Are you? Are you a silly boy little boy? Well, we're not sure. But
we'd have to ask him to find out one day.
Here's another example. They are in the car. Similar thing, well exactly the same thing
really. All we got to do, is change the are and the they and then we get are they in the
car? Ok, now let's look at the third example. Now here we have a picture of a beautiful
woman, it's Beyonce, very beautiful, so now maybe if you're blind or something, or maybe
you can't see her, and you want to know, you want to know how would you ask them? Well,
I'm sure you know by now, all you got to do is chance the to be verb round with the pronoun
and then we have, is she beautiful? So then now you can find out, yes! You can tell, you
can tell the person asking the question, yes she is very beautiful. So that's how you'd
ask those questions there.
So guys, hopefully, I explained how to do questions with the to be or how to form questions
with the to be verb. And later episodes will go into detail about the other type of questions
we can ask in English. So if you any other questions or if you want any English lesson
