I use to live a complicated life. My calendar was filled and I was busy. The problem was
that I was busy; but was not productive. I had a lot of busy energy but was like a top
than just spun around and around. What made my life complicated was that I started
a lot of projects or tasks. Unfortunately I started more than I finished. I was always
chasing the bright shiny ball that was the latest trend or project that caught my eye.
I was (and still am!) a people pleaser. So I also had a hard time saying ‘No’ to
people and so gained some additional work that way as well on tasks that I really had
no particular interest in. I would find myself juggling an insurmountable work-load and working
unbelievable hours to accomplish everything. And I lied. When someone would ask me how
everything is going, I would lie and say ‘Great!’ I got to the point of realizing I was living
for everyone else but for me. When I finally got to the place of saying
enough, I knew I needed to simplify my life. I found a mentor who helped me. I felt like
a child handing a tangled skein of yarn to a patient parent and listen to them tell me
how to untangle the mess I have made. What I discovered is life can be complicated
if you let it. Life can also be simple if you choose that path. Today my life calendar
is filled and I am productive. Once I changed from busy to productive, I shifted my thinking
to working for everyone else to Working for ME!
The difference in the shift is that I have goals today. I have prioritized what is important
in my life and that is where I intentionally put forth my energy. I do not chase after
bright shiny objects. If one gets my attention, I will determine if it’s aligned with my
goals. If it is, I will determine when it will be pursued. I no longer drop what I’m
working on; I work until I am finished. If someone asks me to take on additional task
that is not aligned with my goals. I have no problem politely declining the request.
The result is a joyful and satisfying life. Please do me the hoping over to my website
and sharing your dream with me.
