Phonebooks are custom lists of contacts you can create using the
Switchvox Web Suite. The Switchboard, and Contacts application on your
phone, can use multiple phonebooks with up to 1000 contacts. You can
also designate a single phonebook to be used for rapid dial keys on
your phone.
To manage your Phonebooks go to to `Features' then `Phonebooks'. You
will see your current configuration. To add a new Phonebook click on
"Create Phonebook". Enter a title and click on "Save Phonebook" To add
contacts to this Phonebook click on "Create Phonebook Entry".
You can add System Extensions, External Numbers and Status Indicators,
click on the help icon for more information about each type. As an
example I will add some System Extensions to this Phonebook. (pause)
Using these buttons you can rearrange the order of your contacts.
At the bottom you can select select permission type. Click on the
`help' icon, then `System Extension Entries' and `Permission Type' to
see more information about Normal vs Extended Permission Types. Here I
will choose `Normal' and then click on "Save Phonebook Entry".
New Phonebook entries will appear automatically in the phone's
Contacts application within a few minuets, however you can click on
"Sync Contacts" to update your phone now.
To configure your Rapid Dial Keys click on `Phone Features Options'.
Here you can select which Phonebook you would like to use for your
Rapid Dial Keys. This will be the phonebook that is used for the Rapid
Dial panel on the d50 and d70 phones. This phonebook will also
determine which contacts are automatically polled for Status when
using the Contacts application. This will occur for the first 40
contacts in this phonebook. You can also select "Enable Line Keys for
Rapid Dial". When set to "Yes" your unregistered line keys will be
used for Rapid Dial. When set to "No" your unregistered line keys will
remain empty.
If you are using a Digium d50 IP phone, you will see the additional
option `Print DESI strip'. Click here to download a PDF with your
contacts neatly listed in the same order as the phonebook you
configured for Rapid Dial. You can then print the PDF from your
computer. This eliminates the need to use writing or white-out on the
strip and makes it simple to print a new DESI strip anytime you update
your Rapid Dial phonebook entries.
