Hi there! I'm Daniel on behalf of Expert Village. In this particular clip, we're going to be
cleaning the track and prepping it for the installation of a sliding glass door lock.
Now what's important about cleaning the track, is we want to make sure we get all the dirt
and grime out of it, because the door will actually sit a little higher, and because
the lock goes into the other door, it tends to settle after a period of time. You'll find
that eventually it won't go into the lock position. So, we want to clean the front of
the track, open it, and clean the back of the track. The simplest way to do that is
to get the head of a broom and just sweep it out. Loosen everything up, front and back.
Make sure you get in nice and tight. The front of the door. Open it up and do the back. Once you've loosened all this dirt, simply
take a vacuum and vacuum it out.
Now, if the track is really dirty and it has a lot of buildup in there, it may be necessary
to get a cleaner out. Get it wet and scrub it and dry it out. Worst case scenario, you
may need to lift the glass door out and clean the track. The tracks are usually nylon wheels,
so they just run along the track, they'll get a lot of dirt and gunk in them. You might
have to slide it open and close 3 or 4 times and repeat this process until you get it nice
and smooth, and make sure that it's sitting all the way down.
