To repair a Nokia x7 you will need a T5 Torx star type screwdriver, pair of pliers, small
bladed screwdriver, pair of tweezers and a plastic separation tool of some kind. So starting
with your plastic tool we need to remove these covers from the top. So starting from the
screen side just insert your tool here and just lift these covers away from the phone,
they are held on with double sided sticky tape, so just lever them off and they come
off nice and easy. Same again here, just lift that away and again come off nice and easy.
So take your T5 screwdriver and undo these 2 silver screws. Now we can lift the top cover
away. The top cover contains the Wi-Fi antenna if this is damaged it would explain any reception
problems. Now we can undo these 2 screws. And now we need to remove these silver pins
which hold the screen in place. So using your long nose pliers, just get hold of that pin
and just gently pull that out of the phone and put that aside. And then come over to
the other side and again get hold of this little pin and pull it out like so. Now we
come to the bottom of the phone, and again we need to use the plastic tool to remove
this plastic cover. So from the screen side just insert your blade and just lift that
away from the phone, once you’ve got one end up you can just peel it away and it will
come off. So we have got 2 black screws to undo each side these are the last screws that
hold the screen in. And these are slightly different from the other screws in that it’s
got a plain shank with a thread on the end, so you can’t get them mixed up. Now we come
up to the top and we need to release this ribbon cable here and just have it so it stands
straight up. Now carefully lift the screen away from the body but do not pull too hard
because we must not snag this ribbon cable, so hold it open and again using your separation
tool just gently ease the screen away from the body, ok that sides done. And the same
with this side, just gently ease the touch screen away from the body. So at the bottom
here we have got 2 small clips just there and there. They are the last clips holding
the touch screen in place so just push them out and the touch screen comes out nice and
easy and now we can just slide it up and lift that away. Now if you are replacing the touch
screen you might have to swop the button over. Button comes out quite easy so you can just
push it out from this side and it comes unstuck. And you can stick that into your new touch
screen. If you buy a touch screen that does not come with this metal frame you will have
to use a sharp blade to separate this frame from the touch screen and then glue the new
touch screen in place. But I strongly recommend you buy one that comes with the frame already.
If you are not replacing the LCD you can skip this part by clicking the link. So to remove
the LCD screen take your plastic tool and insert it into this corner here. Now be careful
because the ribbon cable is just here. So you put your plastic blade in, put it round
this way. And it is stuck on quite well, but if you just gradually bring your knife around,
keep sliding it around and it will gradually come unstuck, keep coming round and eventually
it comes away. So it is stuck on with this gold double sided tape here. Now we need to
remove this little clip that holds the ribbon in place, so using your tweezers, if you just
lift that up and out and then just carefully unclip the ribbon cable and there we have
the LCD removed. So take your new LCD screen and offer it up as best you can then push
it into place. Then we need to reinsert this small clip, so using the tweezers if you hold
it like this and insert that bit first and then just gently push that into place and
you will hear it click in. And you can see it is located in there nicely then bring the
LCD screen around and just give it a gentle push to stick it back down on to that gold
tape do not push too hard but just give it a nice push all the way around. Once you have
done that you can peel off the protective coating if it is a new LCD screen. And then
offer up your digitizer inserting this ribbon cable in to that groove first, and then come
down to the bottom and insert the clips into the bottom so you can see they are lined up.
Make sure the ribbon cable is free and push the screen into place all the way around.
And now we want to put those metal pins back in again. So it has only got a hole just there
for them go in, so you push it in and you squeeze the screen against the body you will
find the metal clips go in nice and easy. Come over to the other side and again just
insert that into the hole there, and squeeze the screen together and just push that pin
all the way home. So you get a little bit sticking out both sides. Now we can connect
the ribbon cable for the touch screen, just offer that up and push that into place. And
take your silver screws, all the same size so it does not matter if you get them mixed
up. And put them back in. Just do them finger tight otherwise you will just strip the thread
or snap them off. Same again here. Now we can put the top cover back on again, so just
offer that up into place making sure it looks nice and flush all the way around and then
put the other 2 silver screws back in the top, so just insert the screw onto the torx
driver and offer them up. Then stick these covers back on again, just give them a nice
hard push to make sure they are stuck down nicely, and the same with this one. If it
doesn’t stick you could always replace the double sided tape with some fresh. Then we
come to the bottom using the last 2 black screws
just finger tight and then offer up the plastic cover and give it a good push make sure its
stuck down nicely. Now with this particular firmware version it won’t switch on after
it has been apart, so what you have to do is insert your charger, and now it is registered
I can unplug it and now it will switch on, so it is starting to switch on now. Thanks
for watching please subscribe and give me the thumbs UP and I will try my best to make
some more in the future, Thank you :)
