My name is Kim and I am the coordinator of pulmonary rehab. I've worked at Kindred for
19 years. Continue the Care for Kindred I think it's a wonderful thing for our community
because a lot of family they don't know where to go, what's the next step and we allow them
to transition to meet their needs. I've had several folks that have had to go to an acute
rehab facility from our facility and they just got stronger and were able to keep the
program going to where they just got better. One person in particular I will always remember.
I remember when he first came in through our outpatient door he didn't have too much confidence
in what I was about to do with him. He was on 3 liters of oxygen in a wheel chair hadn't
been able to do much of anything and he said he gave me two weeks to start and after that
two weeks he decided okay, I'm going to stay here and see what else you can do for me and
he finally transitioned to what his ultimate goal was, which he didn't believe he could
get back to doing, was getting back out on the golf course. He wasn't wearing his oxygen.
He was exercising everyday. He'd come in one year later and he'd say "Kim this is what
I'm doing now" and he'd come back 2 years later and tell me "this is what I'm doing
now." He had a gym right across the street and it was just really very fulfilling to
be able to see someone continue on with the care that we started.
