So when you were creating iDress for Weather how did you envision it being used?
I thought of it at first my first ideas about it were
instructionally. whether it was in a school setting
or whether it was in independent living setting
uh... and i also uh...
thought about which was kind a new notarea for me
but I really thought about aging populations and really
thought about people with alzheimer's people with dementia. I thought about
people with tramatic brain injuries
so i didn't
my idea of it
wasn't just limited to
school-age children who have intellectual disabilities or multiple
disabilities um...
really wanted that bigger picture and thinking where
where people were dependent i mean that's really what it's all about making
people more independent
so i saw it used in the home
uh...
that in that sort of educational coaching kind of way wherever someone was living
uh... and then also in schools and i think i also maybe later thought not the
original original thought about preschool as well that would be fun you know
because preschool is such is such a classic uh... curriculum to do weather as
part of the circle time in the morning and or whenever the kids meet.
yeah so that what
I did.
Were you surprised at all time
uh... by any use that has come out of the app like has anyone come up to you and
is using the app in a way that surprised you or you weren't expecting?
uh... I think it's done what I hoped it would do and I mean i think the population
the targeted populations uh...
were I've hit them successfully.
uh... it has really added has had a pretty strong um... response within the
community of kids with autism spectrum disorder. That's been a nice network.
i think that i've actually gotten several emails from uh... moms who
have uh... appreciated the assistance that it's giving them.
even on the comments on the itunes store there have been some comments from
individuals who say they have autism that it's helped them
so i would say that population specifically i've gotten more feedback
than say populations of kids with cognitive disabilities or intellectual disabilities.
I really haven't gotten much feedback in the way of the
aging population but i also have to say I haven't spend a huge amount of time
marketing that
and marketing I don't mean like
sales. I mean it is about sales, but am
I really getting the word out. So marketing to me do people even know
there's four hundred thousand-plus apps on the app store now.
It's insane so if you can do some work around being invisible you're
buried. I mean nobody sees you. That requires time and work. It's a
business
I haven't really seen it used in
anything I would say would be totally unpredictable uh... I was kind of hoping the
general population would enjoy it as well 'cause I think it's fun and
pretty and I've have some feedback just from people who enjoy but it's
much more than that that targeted by far the most feedback i've gotten has been from
that targeted audience.
