Hi this is Shana Bethune on behalf Expert Village I'm going to talk to about arranging
furniture in your home office so one of the biggest mistakes that people make when they're
arranging furniture. Is making there office look exactly like the 9-5 job that they left
so you really want to avoid having small cramp corners because it will end up feeling way
to much like a cubicle. The whole reason why your working at home is to avoid having to
work in a cubicle so make sure that your furniture allows you to have enough room enough flexibility
and it's arrange in such a way that you don't feel closed off or stuck in a corner. So it's
best to arrange the furniture in such a way that your office feels open and not cramped.
Another thing you need to take into consideration is which items of furniture you need the closest
to you while your working. If there are particular files that you need to access it will help
to have those located in a file cabinet nearby and also maybe there are things that you don't
need. Maybe there's a piece of equipment such as a printer that you really don't use very
often that could be put on the other side of the room out of your way. If you keep everything
nearby it ends up feeling cramped so you want to make sure that things are spread evenly
but not to far out of reach. For example, I keep a container of drawers right near my
desk and it has all the stuff that I need to use frequently I have manuals for different
equipment that I use, I have all sorts of cords and wires that I also need for different
equipment to go with my computer. And then I have just envelopes and stamps and that
sort of things so when your arranging furniture remember to think about what you need within
arms reached and what can go the total opposite side of the room.
