Today we're in Boat Harbor on Taupo.
It's a beautiful day. We are reviewing the Regal 28.
Nice and high up. Which is you know great for visibility, there's good
visibility right the way around.
It's pretty nice helm position. There's actually room for two.
But plenty of room for one. Yeah it's a fairly pleasant
experience helming this boat. The wheel is adjustable up and down, everything's
within easy reach. You've got a bow thruster, which is a great thing to have
even though this boat is not too difficult to maneuver. We've even got a
spotlight that can be controlled from here up the dashboard. So yeah very
nicely laid out and the boat goes very nicely.
So this is a multi-function sort of a boat. I mean it's a great family boat.
You can do all kinds of things with it and it's equipped that way too, so here I'm
standing on the duck board here, It sits nice and wide and easy to
get on and off. But there are several tow point so you can ski from here, you can
tow water toys, all those sorts of things. There's a boarding letter as well.
Lots of cleats. I noticed that straight away with this boat
we've got cleats, plenty of them. So you've got lots of options when it comes
time to tie it up. There's a shower out here on the cockpit. There are also
speakers so you're going to be entertained, and you know if you want to
control them here's the little Fusion control here so that you can control the sounds.
Step up into the cockpit.. and again we've got a lot of options plenty
of places to sit.. This settee. The backrest swings backwards and forwards so you can
either sit and look out to the water. Or be social and you know talk to the
people who are inside the cockpit. Nice little wet bar here. All kinds of things
you know we've got electric lifts for the engine room cover of course.
It's really really well equipped. Typically American in that sense you get
lots and lots of features that are standard, they just come with the boat.
So when boating becomes all just too much for you, you can just lay
yourself down here and enjoy the sunshine, have a bit of a snooze.
Very comfortable it is too.
So one of the things that the owners really liked about this boat is the
amazing amount of space there is down here below decks. Now for a 28 footer
there's a lot of boat here, you've got a really nice accommodation area in here,
you can sit down and lounge about as we're doing now. There's quite a
functional galley. There's a really nicely appointed Head with full Headroom
you can actually stand up in there, even if you're six foot.
This has got good Headroom,
which often with boats of this type you don't have. There's a
massive berth. It's a queen plus berth that extends under the cockpit,
actually under the bridge deck. So yeah a really spacious area in here it makes
the boat very versatile, and this is a freshwater boat only the owners
intend to use it on Lake Taupo exclusively.
