- [Mother] Oh, I almost...You know that day that you went to the hospital.
I had copied your, uh, records. Did I ever tell you about that?
- [Daughter] No.
- [Mother] And I thought Administrator was gonna fire him. He's over it.
- [Daughter] So, why? How'd you? Why?
- [Mother] Well, because I thought, well, you know, 'cause we had talked
about goin' to the emergency room. And doin' that to see if we could
get you on medication to kind of get you in the system,
so that you could see a doctor. Remember?
And I had made copies. Uh, several times, uh, you know, several visits.
- [Daughter] Do you have them?
- [Mother] I had all that documentation, uh, for the doctors to see
what they put you on.
- [Daughter] What did they say?
- [Mother] Well, I think, um, you know, as far as, you know,
the likes of the anxiety and one of them had doubled your dose of Xanax
and put you on Klonopin, too.
And then you were takin' antidepressants and all of that kind of stuff.
Well, I made copies. And when you went to the hospital that day,
they went with you.
And when Administrator found out I made copies of those, oh, she was pissed at me.
- [Daughter] How'd she know?
- [Mother] Oh, I mean, she goes, "You can't do that!"
And I mean, she got pretty irate.
- [Daughter] How'd she even know?
- [Mother] Uh, I don't know. I don't know how she knew.
- [Daughter] Well, I want to know what they--
- [Mother] I don't know if Administrator, if Doc had mentioned it to her or what.
- [Daughter] I wanna know...what it was that he wrote about me that last day,
why he was such a *** to me.
- [Mother] Which one?
- [Daughter] Doc.
- [Mother] Oh, I don't know.
- [Daughter] I don't really remember seein' any of the other ones, really.
They were, like, in and out, if I ever did see 'em. Quick but--
- [Mother] Yeah. Yeah.
- [Daughter] I mean, to get off of, to wean down, uh, the medicine
that they had me on--
- [Mother] Daughter, I don't have a lot of respect for them
because you wouldn't believe how many people that they have made
dependent upon, uh, prescriptions.
- [Daughter] That was the hardest thing ever, to get off that stuff.
- [Mother] Yeah. You know, that's just like Dad, uh...
You know, he was havin' radiculopathy and it was from his neck,
but he refused to have an MRI because he said,
"Even if it was positive, he wouldn't be havin' surgery.
And some times, he can't even... feel his hand.
And, um, they gave... One of the doctors gave him hydrocodone.
And that's a pretty strong medication... narcotic.
And you know, instead of giving it to him for just thirty days,
Oh, they gave him three refills.
So after his refills are up, he can go back and get more.
- [Daughter] Like, any time he wants?
- [Mother] Yeah. Yeah, he can make another visit,
and they'll write him out another prescription for more.
