Hi, and welcome to the ValveTime news.
Each week, we'll bring you the biggest talking points
regarding Valve Software and the community.
Now, the news.
Ever had one of those days where it just feels like your wallet
is just...you know...getting a little too full?
Well, good news:
The Steam Autumn Sale began earlier this week on November 21st
and will run through until early next week on Monday the 26th.
You can treat this sale like a mini-repeat of the summer sale,
as both daily deals and flash sales have made a return
alongside a new Indie section dedicated to providing 40% to 70% off
a wide selection of games from independent developers.
It was also revealed earlier this week that the official Steam Christmas sale
will run from December 20th until January 4th,
giving you just under a month to nurse your wallets back to health
after this autumn sale ends.
In other news, Portal 2 received Big Picture Mode
and co-op splitscreen support for PC this week.
The addition of splitscreen allows two controllers to be plugged in,
allowing two people to enjoy Portal 2's cooperative mode together
from the safety of the same...sofa.
What? Sorry, don't look at my disembodied voice like that;
it's been a slow news week.
And you know what? When the news gets slow, Nick starts getting a little "creative" -
I'm making air quotes with the script, so...
Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to all of our U.S. viewers.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, the Dota 2 team announced
that they were releasing a small patch early this week,
as the team were taking the time off to celebrate.
The patch itself didn't really contain...well...anything at all.
If you're going to play a few games this weekend,
take note that all players with friends will receive extra battle points
based on how many members are currently in the party.
Oh, and they added a server location for Austria.
So, I don't really know how many Austrians we have out there,
but if you're watching, please comment down below.
It'd be awesome to hear from you.
Did we already mention it was a slow news week?
Good.
Team Fortress 2 received a small update this week,
which...increased the maximum backpack size from 1000 items...to 2000 items.
Dammit, Valve, just release a trailer for Half-Life 3 already
so we have something to talk about here!
So, hopefully this is something worth talking about:
Valve officially unveiled themselves as a fashion retailer this week
with the reveal of the Portal 2 Holiday Catalogue.
The catalogue, accessible from the front page of the Valve Store,
highlights all the different varieties of Portal themed merchandise currently on-sale,
including some new additions, such as the Sentry Blind Box 12-pack,
the "Songs to Test By" Portal and Portal 2 soundtracks,
and several new "Perpetual Testing Initiative" posters.
Most of the items available in the Valve Store are also currently reduced in price,
so head on over if you ever wanted to pick up a Team Fortress 2 Archimedes plush.
Aw, dammit! They're sold out again!
That brings us to the end of a very quiet news week.
Thanks for watching.
Be sure to head on over to episode 2 of ValveTime Top Five,
in which we look at the top five most influential Team Fortress 2 updates.
Don't forget to vote for the Saxxy awards via the link in the description.
The competition voting ends on November the 27th, which is early next week.
Since this week's episode is so short,
we thought we'd bring back a classic ValveTime theme--
"classic" meaning we used it about twice. That's right!
It's the return of the ValveTime NewsTime TriviaTime!
We all know Gabe Newell is one of the co-founders of Valve Software,
but who was the other co-founder?
Leave your thoughts in the comments below
and we'll reveal the answer on next week's episode.
Get it in quick because I know people are gonna start
looking at Wikipedia and get the answer very fast,
so hopefully you know it off the top of your head.
Go, go, go.
