Rain
[rain sound]
For as long as I remember my self I`ve adored the rain
Kazantzakis in his Reference to Greco writes
The rain has always given me a pleasure which if I was not embarrassed I would define as an *** pleasure
as if I were the earth and I was thirsty
It awakened the woman within, a woman deeply hidden within my guts, who accepted the sky as a man
The moment I read that I agreed
Either anticipated or out of the blue the rain has always put a smile on my face
I have always wondered what pleased me more
what it caused to the others or what it caused to me
Probably the combination of both
I liked sitting on the balcony
under the shelter of the tent
and listen to its fast pace
I m fascinated by the crystal reflection
it generously offers to everything
The leaves, the cement
the cars, the faces
I relished the moist smell of water
mixed with dust
whose aroma conjures up the feeling that it has something of the substance
that gave soul to the soil and turned it into human.
Even the sunlight itself, when emerging through the clouds
is sweeter than the light of a sunny day
It emanates a sweet melancholy out of the gray
which instead of depressing you it strengthens you
I also liked being inside it
though it awakes the sense of uniqueness
where nobody wants to stand
It washes me clean of the common odour which is incessantly imbued
on all people roaming the city
It puts me in a time freezing chamber
as I stand still next to people fleeing to take cover
I will never forget the day when I was caught in a night shower and I was riding my bike
I was overwhelmed within joy
speeding up against the direction of the rain
and I felt its cold, tender stings on my face and on my fists
After freezing, perilous tour in the city streets
with my bike not obeying the shill of the breaks
I was standing outside my door soaked to the bone
in the company of pneumonia smiling
like a passionate for love woman
I yearned to go out again into the rain
and flirting that woman
defying its deadly game
I am sure that my eyes were floating with happiness
To people around me the rain aroused mixed feelings
There are bound to be couples
whom the existence of one and only umbrella
and their arm-in-arm attempts
to dodge pits
made them fall in love
and both have the same unconfessed thought
they will fight for everything together
Stressed out faces
filled with raindrops
under sheds
anxiously watching a tennis game
between their watch and the sky
Nearby
passers by hovering sewers
to the on coming car which splashed them with water
Peddlers in a hurry to save their wares
a suited 30 year old
who doesn’t give a damn about zebra crossing
and dances accompanied by cars
cursing his wife who didn’t place his umbrella
next to his briefcase in the morning
so now he has to appear to the board soaked wet
On the one side the owner of the cafeteria
with the large yard
cursing his fortune for the water preventing him from selling coffee
and opposite
the cinema owner cursing for water welted his tickets
And me being amid
like the orchestrator of his paranoiac festival
looking at all with stare of victory and irony
A spate of madness in the people around me
and a torrent of joy in me
I am the only son of the rain
her emissary on the earth
the one who seconds her eternal battle with the sun
I am her pampered son
and punish everyone for their impertinence of glorifying sunshine
I 'm strong
I 'm unique
I`m wet
It`s my moment
