We have a cantaloupe and
you'll notice the skin on the cantaloupe looks like net and the very nature of
that kind of skin can harbor bacteria
cause the spoilage of your melon and also cause
some food borne illness issues. so unlike other fruits and vegetables
that you need to wait to wash until just before eating,
you want to wash sure your melons
as soon as you bring them inside either from the garden
the farmers market or the grocery store so we're gonna start
my running our melon under cool water, we're gonna take a stiff
bristle vegetable brush and we're going to
really scrub every surface up this melon
you don't have to use any commercial fruit or vegetable washes that's not necessary
not necessary to mix any household chemicals
and soak your fruits and vegetables, a stiff vegetable brush will do the job
So after you have thoroughly scrubbed the melon
dry it. Moisture is the enemy of safe food
and if it's ripe, go ahead and put it in the refrigerator, if it's not
leave it on the counter. We all want to be safe and we want to feed our families well
