A faulty wood burning stove is the cause
of a five-alarm blaze in Walworth County
this morning.
Firefighters from agencies
in Beloit, Delavan, Darien
and as far as Hebron, Illinois
responded to the MABAS call just after
9:45 a.m. this morning.
The property belonging to Doris and Phillip Katzenberger
located at W8726 School Section Road
in the town of Darien
suffered severe smoke and water damage.
Darien Fire Chief Justin Schuenke
tells us that due to a lack of water hydrants
many tankers had to be brought in
including tenders in order to put the fire out.
But, eventually after a few hours,
including weather that was hampering
their efforts,
they were able to get the upper hand
and subdue the fire.
There were no reported injuries except for
one Whitewater Fire Department official
who was hurt at the scene,
but did not require transport to the hospital.
