provides a hinging colleting action that enables the tube fitting to perform remarkably well

An FEA is a computer-aided, mathematical technique
that realistically models elastic and plastic deformation.
More specifically,

The FEA clearly demonstrates the patented radial hinging action
of the fully-cased hardened back ferrule.
This action enables more material of the back ferrule to come in contact with or
collet the tube.
The colleting action provides additional support in the areas of tube grip

The back ferrule also drives the front ferrule up and forward
to produce a burnishing or polishing action of the front ferrule
with the fitting body bevel and tube.

The back ferrule is treated with a patented case-hardening process called SAT 12.

this hardening method enriches the surface of the stainless steel by consistently
diffusing carbon atoms into the spaces between the key elements that make up stainless steel.

retains ductility
and creates no dimensional change.
