Hi everyone, this is Yasuko and it's time for Massage Monday. This week I'm going to
review this Still Point Inducer. Still Point is a very deep relaxing state that you can
experience in CranioSacral Therapy.
CranioSacral Therapy is a soft touch therapy that uses no more than 5 grams or weight of
a nickel. It's very light. It's almost like an energy work. It uses the rhythm of the
membrane called dura mater and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the spinal cord and the
brain. It works deep inside your body and it's very beneficial for so many things. You

From my experience, Still Point is the deepest relaxation I've ever experienced in any of
the massage classes I've taken. When I'm in a massage class I often fall asleep while
receiving but I'm still aware of the noises and what's going on around me. But when I
took the CranioSacral Therapy class, I was completely out. I wasn't aware of the noises
or what's going on around me. I was out.
Still Point can be induced manually by a CranioSacral therapist by cradling the head and lightly
squeezing at the base of the skull and detect and resist and pause the movement of the cerebrospinal
fluid which requires training because it's really subtle and not easy to detect. Or supposedly
you can use this device. So let's see if this Still Point Inducer gives me that deep relaxation.
According to the instruction, you place your fingers on both sides of the back of your
neck and slide them up to where they meet the base of your skull. Continue up on to
the boney ridge at the bottom of your head. And you simply rest your head on these points.
Take a few deep breaths and rest for 10-20 minutes.
I tried several times. I think I placed it in a wrong place at first because my neck
was numb after a while. But I think I found the right spot and eventually found it relaxing
and I did fall asleep. However, so far I haven't had that deepest relaxation that I experienced
in the CranioSacral Therapy class. I believe you have to have it done by the right therapist
to achieve that level of ultimate deep relaxation.
In the meantime, I found this device also useful for pressing acupressure points, massaging
the neck muscles by turning my neck, and pressing the spinal muscles all the way to the lower
back. But for the lower back I had to put my hands under my back to adjust the height.
