Difficult Questions: Immigration history The first question in this section asks about
your current immigration status in the UK, but the question uses some very technical
immigration terminology.
If you select "More guidance" these terms are explained.
If you have immigration permission, which has not yet expired you should select the
first option.
If your immigration permission has expired, you should select the fourth option, but you
may wish to speak to a welfare adviser or other regulated immigration adviser before
proceeding with your application. Entry clearance or visa
This question asks about the most recent time you applied for immigration permission outside
of the UK. It is not talking about any extensions you
have made in the UK.
Almost all students with Student or Tier 4 (General) Student immigration permission will
have applied for Entry Clearance and should select "yes".
If you applied for immigration permission when you arrived in the UK, you may wish to
speak to a welfare adviser or other regulated immigration adviser before proceeding with
your application.
Remember this question is talking about the most recent application you made OUTSIDE OF
THE UK. Even if you have applied to extend your immigration
permission in the UK, you should still be looking at your Entry Clearance Sticker and
not a residence permit. You should select the country where you applied
for your immigration permission.
The reference number, referred to here, is the VAF number.
This can be found below the valid until date on your Entry Clearance Sticker
You should enter the date your entry clearance sticker was valid from.
The final question in this part of this section asks you when your current immigration permission
expires.
As this question is talking about your current immigration permission, this could be the
expiry date of an entry clearance sticker or a residence permit.
