Instructure Canvas an assignment is any activity that you're going to
give a grade to the student or give them an assessment
of these assignments include things that they're going to turn in his files or
quizzes
so regardless of which interface you used to create those different pieces
if you're going to grade students they will all end up here on your assignments
page
you can organize the different assignments
by group
like this one is by type by quizzes or assignments or you can say some things
like unit to our unit three
so when you create an assignment you need to declare what type of activity it
is including it it's an assignment where they're going to turn in
you know files or URL's or media entries
or whether or not is going to be a quiz or graded discussion
you can also update the due dates here which we automatically reflected in your
calendar
so you don't create a new column in your grade book instead you create a new
assignment in your course we will automatically create a column in your
grade book
and if it's scheduled we will put it on your calendar and automatically update your
syllabus
the assignments pages is also where you can set up your grading
scheme
so here I have set it up based on these groups
so on assignments is now worth ten percent of the final grade
additionally i can add some more criteria by editing in adding a grading
rule
so I can say i would like you to drop the lowest scores, drop the
highest assignments,
or to never drop a specific assignments so I can say drop the lowest two scores from
this assignment
and this will automatically be updated in my grading scheme
this uh... grading policy will be reflected in my grade book automatically
and also communicated to the students so they know exactly how they stand inside
the course
so assignments is a page that it was show you a view in your course of
every activity that you're going to give students a score for or give them an
evaluation on.
