>> Face it, how something looks affects how we think
and feel about it.
Within seconds, we know which gift we'd like to receive.
Like it or not, packaging is important,
product manufacturers know this.
They often spend more on the packaging design than they do
on developing the product itself.
Face it, we all know we shouldn't judge a book
by its cover or a person by what they wear, but we all do.
Sure, it's superficial, but that's the way it is.
First impressions count and you don't get a second chance
to make a good one.
>> With James Stanfield's First Impressions video modeling
series and our on-screen medical experts,
your students will see clear step by step demonstrations
of essential every day hygiene practices
that promote social approval and health.
>> Hi. Welcome to First Impressions.
Today we're going to talk about hygiene,
that means keeping yourself clean and healthy,
which is especially important when you're meeting new people.
>> Stanfield First Impressions Hygiene Module uses do's
and dont's to demonstrate the details of good hygiene
from bathing to those associated with elimination.
>> Hi, and welcome back to First Impressions.
Today we're going to talk about your appearance,
specifically grooming.
>> In this module, every day grooming practices are
illustrated using humorous sketches
to keep students engaged as they learn why good grooming is
essential to making a good first impression.
>> Grooming means paying attention
to the details of your appearance.
>> Make good grooming a habit.
Do it to make a good first impression.
>> Hi, I'm Jennifer Chapman, the fashion coordinator and I'm here
to show you how your clothes can help you make a great
first impression.
>> We all know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover,
even though we all do it.
In module three dress, your students will learn
that knowing how to dress to impress is just a matter
of following just a few simple rules.
>> Fit, condition, coordination, appropriateness and accessory.
>> Dress conservatively, neutral colors.
Forget the body piercing and cover up the tattoos,
nothing too radical or too cool
that makes too much of a statement.
I've learned if you want to be accepted in the work world,
if you want to succeed, you've got to be willing
to play the game by their rules.
If you choose not to fit in by the way you dress
or how you act, that's fine too, just be prepared to deal
with the consequences.
>> Say you meet someone for the first time,
you want them to like you.
If you have a bad attitude, you can completely blow it.
>> No way.
>> In module four attitude, your students will learn
that a good attitude is essential
in making a good first impression.
>> And what behaviors turn people on and off.
>> It's real important to work on the big three, your attitude,
appearance and manners.
>> Remember, a good attitude is the same thing
as showing respect.
Make a habit of it, but don't do it for me.
Do if for you.
Do it for the date.
Do it for the job.
Do it to show respect, but do it!
Make a good first impression.
