To all my brothers and sisters of the Enlightened, to our cousins in the Resistance, to all humankind
around the world, peace and greetings. I am known as TerramAlWathani, and I come bearing
a message of good news for all mankind. A message that Roland Jarvis has transcended
death to deliver. A message that cannot be stopped by a fearful government agency clinging
to delusions of control:
The Enlightenment is not coming. It is here. Now. In our cities and neighborhoods, in our
universities and libraries. The promise of a better tomorrow, a better world, a more
innovative, connected humanity. A world where the full potential of the human mind is brought
to bear on the problems that plague us all: war, famine, pollution, the list goes on.
There are those, of course, who fear this change. And who can blame them? They are fed
campfire stories about alien invaders taking over our minds, parasites feeding on our humanity,
and they naturally choose to resist. They don't understand that the Shapers have been
with us since the beginning of history, or that our relationship is symbiotic rather
than parasitic. Perhaps they are misled by the title "Resistance," thinking that they
are fighting the powers that be and bringing the power back to the people. They don't understand
that by joining the Resistance, they are actually working for a shadowy government agency that
is trying to control the flow of XM. They are trying to limit its ability to reach and
benefit the people, to concentrate that power into the hands of a select, elite few.
And right now, by some measures, they are succeeding. For some time now, we have been
behind in the global MU count, and all indicators suggest that we are strongly outnumbered.
We shouldn't surprised by this, my fellow Enlightened. Throughout history, those who
have had phenomenal ideas far ahead of their time have been at best scorned and at worst
killed. Can we begin to imagine how people in prior Enlightenment movements must felt?
If you are hearing this message today, I say "Do not despair." The difficulties we face today
are but the passing of fear. The Resistance are frightened children building sandcastles
against the coming tide. One day the tide will come and wash their sandcastles away.
And we, with compassion for our fellow man, shall take their hands and comfort them, and
lead them into a new era for humanity.
We are patient. We are the future. We are the Enlightened.
