Hello, it's Laurel, the fashion expert. And we are working on different styles of flat
shoes. This one is going to be very, very basic, very classic. It's a penny loafer.
And you never know. You might look at this and be like, "Oh, that's so boring." But who
knows? You could have a collection where this makes your inspiration stand out that much
more. So I'm going to show you how to draw a basic penny loafer. And I promise that you'll
never forget it just because it is so plain. Alrighty, with our penny loafer the first
step is to create the sole because if you'll think back to when you wore penny loafers,
the sole is actually kind of hard. It's usually like a hard leather sole with a bit of a heel,
but they're still considered a flat. They're a loafer. So they are a flat. So we'll start
out with our little bit of our leather sole. And then our heel, typical, penny loafer style
heel. And then we go to create our toe cap. And remember to leave that little indention
there because it is a loafer. And then remember also, right here, this top of the toe connecting
to the side of the foot. You're going to want to indicate that. And then the seaming, because
you will see visible seams, dash lines for your seams. And then the most important part
of the penny loafer would be the part that holds the penny. So that's right there. And
just draw it in like a strap. And just make a little dash where the penny is. You can
draw the penny in there if you want. But as I've said before, too much is too much. And
fashion drawings are usually pretty, pretty plain and you pretty much don't do all the
detail. That's what makes them fashion drawings. So then we just finish out the rest of the
loafer with our seams. Because obviously it has to be sewn together there too. And there's
your penny loafer.
