What's up, guys? This is Cameron here with another episode of DS2DIO 360. Today
is not any normal episode. No. Today, we are gonna be diving into one of my most favoritest things
in the world of dance and song: K-pop! You're welcome. Now, K-pop has been popular since
the mid-90's, but this year it has really blown up because of musical artist PSY and
his unstoppable hit, "Gangnam Style." It's been on talk-shows, it's been in parody videos,
it's even made its way to the political stage.
This dance is everywhere you guys.
I mean who hasn't done Gangnam Style by now right? I'm sure all of you guys have done it like a million
times. So, I thought today we could take a look at some of the other awesome, incredible
artists in the world of K-pop. And to do just that, I have a very special, special guest
joining me today in the studio. Dancer, choreographer, and K-pop wonderkind Aimee Lee Lucas.
AIMEE: Hi, Cameron! CAMERON: That totally worked! Aimee, I'm so excited that you could be here.
Oh, I love this girl. CAMERON: Oh my gosh, you guys, Aimee has not only danced in a ton
of videos with huge K-pop icons, she's also choreographed them. That's crazy. AIMEE: That's
right. And I have been lucky enough to work with bands such as Big ***, Taeyang, G-dragon,
and Se7en. CAMERON: And you've worked with 2ne1 as well, right? AIMEE: Yes and of course,
as luck would have it, they are the first artist on our countdown. CAMERON: Number 5.
These ladies are amazing. I think my favorite thing they have ever done is the dance video
for "I'm the Best."
I mean it's got pretty much everything that you could ever want in a music
video: small animals, an ice cream cone hat, a swivel chair that looks like it's from Scarface.
Now, I know one of our Masterclass choreographers, Travis Payne, had the awesomest time co-directing
the tour for 2ne1. How was working with 2ne1 for you? AIMEE: 2ne1 is amazing. I worked
with them before they were 2ne1. I think one of my favorite thing was choreographing their
[shalam, shalam, shalam]. I think they did a lot of hair movements. CAMERON: I actually
did a Jewish version of that: shalom, shalom, shalom right after my bat mitzvah.
That's very good. CAMERON: Crazy coincidence. Small world. Number 4!
Super Junior seen here
in their video for "Sexy, Free, and Single." FYI band members, thank you so much for writing
a song about me. AIMEE: Well, it also describes the spirit and youthful energy they bring
in their dancing.
Super Junior is comprised of 9 members which is really hard to do, so
Devin Jamieson did a great job with this video. CAMERON: Number 3!
Big ***! Now, not only
is this the theory behind a hilarious sitcom on television, am I right? It's also the theory
behind the entire universe and also one of the driving forces in the K-pop scene. Awesome,
awesome videos: Bad Boy, Fantastic Baby, Number 1 directed and choreographed by Shaun Evaristo.
It also features…Aimee Lee Lucas.
I was able to do a little butt-slapping action.
It was very, very fun. The boys are amazing. They've been around for a long time and they
work so hard. CAMERON: How'd your Nana feel about that? AIMEE: Number 2! We have the Wonder Girls!
They really struck a Beyonce tone with their video for "Be My Baby,"
which is no wonder because it was choreographed by Bey's choreographer Jonte Moaning. And
I think they really stuck with that Dreamgirl feel all the way into their video for "Nobody."
AIMEE: Nobody, nobody, but you - clap, clap. AIMEE: But you. CAMERON: But you. AIMEE: Nobody,
nobody but - Nobody, nobody but you. Nobody, Nobody but you. Nobody - oh, we're just gonna
stop right there. CAMERON: And the number 1 K-pop artist AIMEE: Is none other than TVXQ.
CAMERON: You guys this band is amazing, they are literally breaking the Guiness Book of
World record for the largest fan club. They've had six huge albums, tons of awards, and more
youtube video hits than you can shake a stick at. The guys are smooth, composed, sexy.
Their moves, even to a non-dancer such as myself,
I can tell they are fantastic and I know a lot of them were put together by Tony Testa. AIMEE: Yes.
Well there you have it, our top 5 best K-pop
artists. Now, I'm sure we missed a few gems, so we wanna know: who are your favorite K-pop
artists? Leave them in the comments below. AIMEE: Yes, do exactly what she said and make
sure you hit me up on twitter @aimeeleelucas. CAMERON: And @cameronegoodman. AIMEE: We will
catch you next time, but until then, watch your K-pop and [korean]. CAMERON: And exactly
what she said. AIMEE: [korean] CAMERON: [korean]
